Glenn Beck Say Earthquake In Japan Is A ‘Message’ From God, Because The 10 Commandments Aren’t Followed

Glenn Beck, known for his outrageous statements like calling President Obama a ‘racist’, is making news again by saying Japan’s earthquake is a ‘message’ from God, and implying that it happened because the 10 commandments aren’t followed.

Via NY Daily News;

Glenn Beck says Japan‘s earthquake might be a “message” from God.

“We can’t see the connections here,” he said on his show Monday. “I’m not saying God is causing earthquakes – well I’m not not saying that either!”

“What God does is God’s business,” Beck continued. “But I’ll tell you this…there’s a message being sent. And that is, ‘Hey you know that stuff we’re doing? Not really working out real well. Maybe we should stop doing some of it.’ I’m just saying.”

Beck continued trying to make a connection between human behavior and the natural disasters that have wreaked havoc in Japan, even casually mentioning “radical Islam” before revealing what he called “the answer.”

“The answer is, buckle up!” he said. “Because it’s going to be a bumpy ride.”

In light of the disasters that have devastated Japan, the Fox host stressed people should follow the biblical Ten Commandments, or what he referred to as “10 rules of thumb.”

“What do you say we start doing those things?” he asked. “Because the things we are doing really suck. And they’re not getting better.

Is he suggesting that we get in line with ‘Thou shalt not kill’ and stop shooting up wedding parties and school yards in Afghanistan?

I’ve listened to this several times and I still haven’t heard the guy say that the earthquake & tsunami were the result of the Japanese people not following the 10 Commandments. What I heard was him saying that he doesn’t know why it happened. As for him talking about not obeying God, he kept using the word “we”. Why would he use the word “we” when talking about the Japanese people? I suppose everyone hears what they want to hear.

I saw his TV show one day last week. He spent the entire hour talking with various Japanese people. The whole show was about what we Americans could learn from the Japanese people. He discussed, at length, the fact that there is no looting and no hoarding going on over there (in stark contrast to Katrina). Much of the hour long show was spent extolling the virtues of the Japanese people — their sense of duty and honor, their code of ethics, their dignity, their spirit of community, their generosity, etc. (I wonder why AddictingInfo didn’t post any of that? Huh?)

I guess you can either watch a diced and spliced segment of Beck and get your jollies ranting and raving against stuff that he never actually said. Or you could become informed by listening to him yourself (after all, he is on the radio for 3 hours every day and on TV for another hour) and making up your own mind. Of course, if you actually do listen to the man you run the risk of being challenged to think for your self. I guess there’s always a segment of the population that would rather hate in blissful ignorance than make the effort to think for themselves.

If you read Glenn Beck’s statement he didn’t say “Japan’s earthquake is a ‘message’ from God, and implying that it happened because the 10 commandments aren’t followed.” This article and the title of the article totally twists what Glenn Beck said, read the transcript of his comments. The NY Daily News sure likes to twist words and spread lies.

What Glenn is trying to say in his statement is bibilically why are we (the world) going through these tragedies. If we look at the Bible God stated that the 10 commandments should be followed in order to be in accordance with God. Thus, since many in our world are not following the 10 Commandments that these events could be punishment.

People in the U.S. need to stop talking shit about what happened in Japan. When the Arab world said the U.S. “Deserved” Hurricane Katrina, the Christians go crazy saying “HOW DARE THEY SAY THAT!”

Then when something tragic happens to Japan, we have assclowns like Beck and Rush and white girls from UCLA talking shit.

    No hypocrisy there.

To G Smith – the people making the comments are mean? Not one-billionth as mean as Glenn Beck.
But, his comments are patently ridiculous… it’s like Pat Robertson blaming 9/11 on the gays. Every time there’s a disaster, one of these wingnuts blames it on the scapegoat de jour. I’m so glad I don’t believe in religion – it does more harm than good. So does Beck.

hope a lightning bolt hits him on the ass so he can consider that ”message” from God…

the sad this is…that there are so many people who still believe in the bible…and a good number of these people will listen to what Beck has o say and follow him…

Amazing ..and how many will see these words as being true? I cannot believe that Palin and all their ilk actually utter this crap!
These are the same people that suggest that those of us who like Obama believe he thinks he is the messiah , second coming ..etc…These judgemental, dangerous people are an abomination to mankind, throwbacks to the past historic eras when so many were murdered in the name of God.

  12. March 16, 2011 at 8:47 am

Has this dipshit even read the bible! Puh-lease! Of course not!

Anyone else flashing back to Pat Robertson’s comments about Haiti? On the one hand, I would’ve figured Mr. Beck far too shrewdly calculating to commit this level of blunder… Then I forgot he practically believes he’s the second coming of Christ.

Honestly, I’m not that surprised that he would hold this opinion. Damn surprised he’d be stupid enough to state it publicly, but not surprised he’s thinking it. Open mouth, insert foot.

But maybe this is a good thing. Maybe this will cause some serious backlash for Mr. Beck. Maybe this will be the final nail in his show’s coffin, considering Fox is apparently considering not renewing him anyways. Or maybe he’ll milk it for everything it’s worth and make another huge truckload of money from all of this “bad publicity.”

Who knows. Either way, it’s further proof that Glenn Beck is an asshole. Not that anyone who hasn’t seen ten seconds of his show, and 300 sponsors, haven’t already figured that out.

Oh Yeah!!! “10 Rules of Thumb” that’s the Bible in a nutshell… WOW!!! Just goes to show you despite all Jesus said about the poor and the homeless and about the rich and powerful and about sinners and hypocrits it doesn’t matter; Republicans still love Jesus Christ– they just don’t approve His lifestyle…

Doubt sincerely if Beck follows the 10 commandments…certainly he does not follow the most imporant one. Love your Neighbor as your Self. To protect my consciousness I give him no attention at all ever. Doubt if he follows his Mormon path either. “Too many paths vote like lemming borg” Pass that on.

    • Sarah Caldwell
      March 17, 2011 at 8:14 pm

Your point was obscured by the fact that “Love your neighbor as yourself” is not one of the Ten Commandments.

You could, however, have nailed him on Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness Against Thy Neighbor.

I think he should fly to the disaster area, stand in the rubble, look those people in the eye, and tell them it’s their fault that they are suffering because they don’f follow the 10 commandments. Tell that to mom’s who have lost children. He won’t because he is a bombastic coward who uses the media to spout his vitriol. More than ever, Glenn Beck has just shown how stupid, hateful, and arrogant he is..

Wow, that is the most anti-christian thing to say. But what do I know, I’m just an atheist, who wants all my fellow human beings to live in joy & happiness. Not anger and lies and hypocrisy & hopes of death like Beck & his fellow fundamentalists….
If ‘god’ was going to murder anyone in judgement, the southern half of the USA would have ceased to exist a looooong time ago…..

I’m not saying that Glenn Beck is an a-hole, but hey, you know some of those things he’s saying? Sure makes him sound like one…

I wonder if he ever thought his eye affliction might be a message from God? Like “Jesus, you’re being a blind ignoramus!”

Since Glenn is such a good Christian, and also one of the richest men around, I really feel it would be right for him to fund and personally lead a humanitarian mission to Japan. While he’s there helping with the clean-up, he can preach to the people on the error of their ways, and when everyone agrees with him and all the damage has been fixed, he can return to this country as a hero.

Those poor people who went through that disaster don’t deserve to be placed through more garbage that will be coming out of Beck’s insanity. I think we should strap Beck to some post when it’s low tide and just watch as he tries to squirm out when the tide starts to rise. Then we can give all of his money to those who really need it in Japan.
