Republicans Block Even More Jobs From Being Created

If you’re familiar with our site, you’ve probably seen our list titled ‘Bills Republicans Have Blocked‘, which lists the bills that Republicans blocked between January 20, 2009 and January 20, 2011. Bills that would have created jobs, and helped the American people get back to work. Well, Republicans are at it again. Recently they blocked a bill titled ‘Economic Development Revitalization Act of 2011′, which would have extended funding to an incredibly successful job creation program. Republicans unanimously filibustered the bill.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who has been paying attention to politics since Republicans took control of the House of Representatives on January 20, 2011. Republicans ran on job creation in 2010, but since being sworn in have done absolutely nothing to create jobs. They’ve done many things, but none of them are geared towards creating jobs.

Via OpenConrgress.org;

On June 6th, the Senate opened debate on the Economic Development Revitalization Act of 2011, a bill to reauthorize and expand a long-running and consistently successful job-creation agency, the Economic Development Administration. The EDA has traditionally enjoyed bipartisan support, and this reauthorization bill was introduced with bipartisan co-sponsorship and passed out of committee without any dissent from Republicans. But after two weeks of debate, the bill was unanimously filibustered by Republicans and has now been pulled from the floor.

And so gridlock prevails, even on the one issue that everyone claims to care about — job creation. Just another example of why Americans have less confidence in Congress than any other institution in American society.

    We have got to remove these obstructionist Republicans and their Teabagging cohorts by electing a super-majority of Democrats. Where are the outsourced jobs upon which so many of these Republican outsourcers campained with such passion? Years ago with my partner on the Navajo reservation in Northern AZ I remember Barack Obama was on C-SPAN suggesting incentives to employers for bringing back USA jobs, yet the Block & Blame Republicans have been set firmly on stopping any progress of the Democrats mopping up the Republican Trickle Down Economics cesspool.

    Lawless1 said it – the GOP is committing treason – but the bought-and-paid-for Injustices of the Supreme Joke will never allow that to happen. They gave the county away in 2000, they continue o sell it to the highest corporate bidder.

    There no longer is a government in the USA, there is only influence for sale, no better than any banana republic (where EXACTLY the same tactics, as taught by the School of The Americas have been used to destabilize countries and install tinpot dictators. Now it’s our turn…)

    As a result, Americans have a DUTY to overthrow NOT the government, but its unrepresentative Representatives. The mistake made in the construction of the system is that the guardians (Supremes) were untouchable – honest, non-political and above purchase. But once you corrupt the court (only had to buy five people, maybe less if they already agreed with you) the system breaks down. We need to regain authority (with some mods to insure the Supremes are also controllable and not just robes-for-hire.) and kick out the oligarchs, and it must be done NOW, before they can consolidate their control.

    Again, people, this AIN’T yer daddy’s GOP. This is the American Fascist Party, and it’s coming to YOUR town… Are you going to goose-step, or fucking fight back?

    Show us the research that supports your claim, please. Because all I’ve read is that tax breaks destroy jobs. Some person got a crazy idea that giving tax breaks to companies would cause them to create more jobs. But it’s not lower taxes they need, but a higher demand for their product. And in order to create a higher demand, we need people to have money, and for that to happen, we need to create jobs. It doesn’t happen magically. Give a company a tax break, and all they will do is downsize.

    One of the best ways to create jobs is to lower taxes.

    I don’t see you democrats supporting that, eh?

    More government spending is a piss poor way to create jobs.

      So, by your logic, if we had no taxes everyone would be employed, right?

      Study after study after study show that lowering taxes does NOT create jobs!!! The whole “trickle down” theory regarding this has not held true for years.

      Trickle down economics does not trickle all the way down.. Tax breaks given to corps and the wealthy are used for stock buybacks, dividends and bonuses while these corps wait for demand for products to increase. However infrastructure projects that stimulate the working class by creating good paying solid benefit jobs will increase demand for products which will trickle all the way to the top were raw materials, manufacturing, and banking resides….. The more money being spent by the citizens, the working classes will increase demand for products which will increase the need for raw materials and manufacturing which will increase the need for investments common sense 101..

      Well, if tax cuts promote job growth, 11 years of tax cut to the “job creators”, why aren’t we swimming in jobs going wanting? The answer, dimwits, is that job orders create employment, that means demand for product. If I own a company and I don’t have more orders than I can fill with current staff, why would I put more people on my payroll? If you give tax breaks to the wealthy, they put that money in a tax-deferred account, or offshore. NO JOB CREATION. Let’s make it simple. If I have a yard sale, and no one comes, would I keep putting more stuff out? Our would I wait to see if someone will come? DEMAND DRIVES EMPLOYMENT, STOP CALLING FOR CUTS FOR THE WEALTHY, THEY SEEM TO BE DOING ALRIGHT WITHOUT YOUR HELP!!!

    These politicians should be tried for treason. It looks to me that is exactly what these obstructive people are doing. They do owe allegiance to this country and we the people are the country and as long as they continue to injure us by putting their backers (top 2% and corporations) ahead of us they are injuring this country and the people who are citizens.
