A list of 2012 GOP Presidential – uh “hopefuls” I guess is the best word for them:

Michele Bachmann – She thinks if she says “Obamacare” enough times in one sentence it will magically disappear. God sent her a sign that she needs to run for President. What is the sign he sending her when she loses?

Newt Gingrich - Has 2 accounts at Tiffany’s, which goes to show he cannot understand the struggles of every day Americans and if he cannot balance his own budget how is he expected to balance an entire country’s budget? He also apparently thinks that country forgets about how terrible he was as a Speaker of the House — we don’t.

Ron Paul - Well, he’s old enough to say eh has experience, but doesn’t he remind you of your grandpa? “You know when I was a youngin….” He wants to legalize hard drugs like heroin, but wants to get rid of things like FEMA. (??)

Rick Santorum - As a Pennsylvanian I must apologize for my state giving the race this man. Just a note about him, he was not even a PA resident when he was a Senator – I wonder if he will move to Canada if he gets the Presidency?

Herman Cain - he was a pizza shop owner. That is all.

Mitt Romney - I have to admit I feel sorry for him. He is a Mormon in the republican party, which is full of Christian, Evangelicals who hate any other religion. So he is done for in the primaries…. yet again. Poor Mitt.

Jon Huntsman - who?? If someone as politically active as me does not know this man, he’s got no chance in the primaries.

Rick Perry - yes, he is just what this country needs; another cowboy Governor from Texas….. did we not learn our lesson from 8 years of another one?

If I forgot anyone it is because they just really do not matter, but if these are the cream of the crop for the republican party, we are going to see a blue United States map in 2012. Yes, they may generate some buzz within their own party, but the rest of the country, you know the MAJORITY of the country, is smart enough to vote for someone who actually cares about this country and the people living in it, not just the businesses in it.

When one party (republicans) want to cut funding for programs that help the less fortunate, this should be a wake-up call to people. They do not care about you, they care about who funds their campaign, period.

PS. I did forget one – Tim Pawlenty……….’nuff said that is all.

And self-promo… don;t forget to check out my blog :) http://courtneysopinion2.blogspot.com/

this stinks of the same tactics that the republicans themselves are using. While my sentiments mirror the authors along certain lines, I must point out that oppinions are not the same as facts. This article is written out of anger and hatered, and seeks to engender hatered and anger in the reader. Rather then stating the facts, the voting records and actual goals of the canidates, which will only ensure to increase the divide that is all ready destroying this country. If you can not prove your point by facutal information then you’ve all ready allowed the big corperatiosn win. We need to close that divide and get the population to work together to take our country back from big buisness.

    • LOL and if this was labeled under “news” I would agree. I guess someone needs understand the difference between humor and facts. Which, if you check the label of this article, it is under political humor.

      Laugh a little

And just for saying sake…. what is a lie in this article?

      • Joel S Henderson

Courtney, to be fair the whole ‘humor’ heading that you’ve mentioned a few times is not all that apparent on this site. When I come to the main page there is just a list of headlines/excerpts which link to the full piece/comments…I’ve only seen the heading ‘humor’ on a sub-page that was fairly buried…so it IS a little confusing about what is supposed to be ‘real’ editorializing and what is supposed to be satire.

Either way, I think that people who really want to work towards positive change/peace/prosperity understand that finding common ground and reaching across the divide is the only way most moderate Americans are going to help to point this country in the right direction.

        • First bi-partisanship died 12 years ago

Second I will REITERATE my question: And just for saying sake…. what is a lie in this article?

Third, you don;t like it, don’t read it and stop commenting. Simple as that ^_^

  • Wow Courtney you’re a biased idiot. Critical thinking is not one of your strong suits…

    • Biased – absolutely. Idiot, nah.

Critical thinking is actually a very strong point of mind which is why I am able to see the republican party for who they are – a bunch of morons.

John, turn off FOX it has obviously ruined what little brain cells you had. ^_^ But thanks for the comment and reading the article :)

    • And as an added note. Get a funny bone man, it is under the political humor title ^_^

    • Joel S Henderson

John M – while I may not always agree with Courtney I don’t think the debate is furthered in any way by insulting her.

Furthermore, when you insult someone because they happen to have different opinions you kind of devalue your OWN opinion since it appears all you’re able to do is attack a person, NOT debate their views.

I’d say the same thing to Courtney (re: republican party/bunch of morons) but I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt since you attacked her.

I’m not trying to be the conversation police but I think there are a lot of decent discussions to be had and work to be done by all of us – I’d rather help people get started on doing that work than to stand by idly while they call each other names…

    • The hatred and bigotry is enough of a divide

      • Joel Henderson

I agree and would add that what is even sadder is the hatred & bigotry thrown around from all sides; especially from the ‘top’

It’s extremely disheartening to see people who claim to stand against hatred & bigotry practicing the very same thing in the same breath…unfortunately that seems to be a result of nonstop media conditioning.

        • Joel you are becoming very annoying.

          • Joel S Henderson

Courtney, sorry if my passion for justice & open/civil discussion is annoying to you – if I had to guess I’d probably say that I’m a lot older than you so maybe have had the sad misfortune of seeing a LOT of pain & suffering on the planet.

I’ve come to realize that most of the pain & suffering has been caused by the overwhelming greed of a few which has been enabled by a corrupt government as well as confused/easily-distracted/self-destructive populace.

My driving force when talking about political/social/humanistic matters is to try to foster synergy from people who think they are at polar opposite ends from the ‘other side’ while helping to educate everyone (myself included) about the stakes (war, ecosystem destruction, loss of rights, imprisonment, toxic products, etc).

Not that I would ever compare myself to someone like Socrates but I definitely strive to be a gadfly working towards a more peaceful and just world – if I annoy you in that process I apologize but if my annoying behavior prompts you to find common ground with others and work towards social justice and peace then I suppose I am willing to be considered annoying when all is said & done.

            • Joel S Henderson

and seriously Courtney; your conversation-ender is “I WOULD discuss things with you if you had a brain”??

I’m not saying ‘you HAVE TO AGREE WITH ME’ I’m just saying that a LOT of people feel that the ‘war on drugs’ is an IMPORTANT issue (look at the VICTIMS as well as the history with an unbiased mind and you should see what I/we mean) and for you to just dismiss it is not exactly intellectually honest or politically inclusive…

I am NEVER looking for an argument, nor do I commonly insult people as both actions do NOT help towards finding solutions…

  • Actually, it’s a good thing that Jon Huntsman isn’t better known; he’s probably the most intelligent and personable candidate. He’s photogenic and has a pronounceable name. Unfortunately, he suffers from Mormonism, too, along with Mitt. No, best we hope for Michele.

  • Ron Paul also published racist newsletters (he later blamed them on his staffers) and is heavily supported by white supremacists.

    • Joel Henderson

yeah unfortunately there was a racist idiot working on Ron Paul’s staff a few decades ago (when Paul was OUT of politics and practicing medicine)…who was fired pretty quickly upon discovery of the heinous crap that he wrote.

Not sure that the actions of a repugnant employee mean the same thing as your own actions (especially when you fire said employee for said heinous actions) but I suppose there’s always people who prefer to use strawmen in their discussions.

I’m sure there are ‘white supremacists’ who would prefer to see the federal government behave in a sustainable, limited fashion and who also may appreciate not being taxed outrageously so that the war industry can make a profit on the blood of the world (ok, so maybe the racists DON’T care so much about the blood of the world but they probably appreciate keeping their money).

I suppose that means that all democrats who have been supported by the war industry want to murder brown-skinned people around the world (since that’s what most U.S. wars of the past century have done)?

Logical fallacies really have NO place in adult conversations IMO…I don’t agree with all of Paul’s opinions but when you actually take the time to read his reasoning & history you find that he’s a fairly consistent, honest and peace-minded guy:

      • Point well taken and I get what you are saying, but leaving the supporters out of the conversation… Ron Paul is an idiot. he wants to do away with FEMA and essentially allow hard-core illegal drugs to become legal. Do you know WHY he wants to do away with FEMA? Oh yea that’s right… the survival of the fittest mentality.

Bachmann herself has condemned gays and is a staunch believer that a woman is supposed to be submissive to her husband.

Name me one republican in office that supports gay marriage, abortion, planned parenthood, and public broadcasting. Please I will be dying to hear you rhetoric.

        • How has keeping drugs like marjuana and heroin helped prevent drug abuse? The War on Drugs is a failure, just like prohibition. Nuff said.

          • Joel Henderson

I’m with BlameThe1st on the war on drugs; history has proven that prohibition ONLY serves to ratchet up the violence & bloodshed (not to mention loss of civil liberties).

The people who are going to do drugs/drink alcohol/smoke cigarettes/watch porn/etc are probably going to do these things REGARDLESS of the law…why have a gov’t that oversteps its bounds (while funneling tax dollars to the prison-industrial complex etc as a side benefit) when the moral thing to do IMO is to stay out of people’s personal lives and work towards educating/helping those in need, NOT imprisoning/seizing property and helping to cause unimaginable bloodshed and misery?

My understanding of Ron Paul’s take on FEMA is that the federal gov’t has proven that it is not the best entity to efficiently/effectively run these types of operations; obviously this can be debated but IMO should not just be dismissed as being idiotic unless your intent is to purely marginalize anyone who has differing opinions.

IMO, Bachmann is mostly a bigoted creation of the media – I tend to ignore her as much as possible…when I can’t ignore her I try to point out her insanity.

            • First, I am not even getting into the whole drug issue. Drugs are bad period, leave them illegal.

FEMA — actually, if you would have been paying attention, Bush made FEMA a privatized organization which is WHY it failed during Katrina.

              • Joel Henderson

Drugs may be bad Courtney but is it your place (or the government’s) to imprison people for lifestyle choices?

Do you drink coffee? What about soda? Those are both ‘drugs’ so is aspirin as well as naturally-occurring substances such as endorphins.

If you take vital topics off the table because you don’t approve of people doing them (and seriously WHO approves of people destroying their lives with ANY substance even violent rhetoric??) then you are not willing to have an adult conversation about reality.

As far as FEMA is concerned, I don’t disagree with you (though I think there are MANY other factors concerned) – as I’ve mentioned in other places, George W. Bush was definitely NOT politically-conservative but much more of a statist neocon.

                • Are you SERIOUSLY comparing soda to HEROIN?!?!

                  Ok this conversation is over.

                  • Joel Henderson

Are you SERIOUSLY refusing to discuss critical matters seriously, even though you invite people to do that in a public forum?

Is that what you do when you don’t want to consider that there are other views besides your own?

Do you have ANY IDEA how many poor, oppressed people (MOSTLY MINORITIES!) are imprisoned DAILY; have their rights and property seized because they made a lifestyle choice that wasn’t accepted by the massive corporations who own your government?

THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of people have gone to prison, been murdered, families torn asunder for what?? Smoking a plant? Doing something to THEMSELVES and NO ONE ELSE but yet the government (taking direction from industries WHO ARE DIRECTLY COMPETING WITH ILLEGAL DRUGS) cares not a whit for rights and basically does what the corporate masters want.

Pardon my passion about this but THOUSANDS of lives have been destroyed by prohibition and you just dismiss ALL discussion?

Seriously, maybe you should be discussing political matters if you cannot be civil and intellectually honest about it?

  • Second Amendment Democrat

OK, so they are a bunch of tools, fools and asshooles (just to make it alliterative…) They will still get something close to 50% of the vote – legitimately even, no need for Florida State Trooper presence to intimidate the voters.

    WHY?

Are 50% (minus the top 2%, so 48%) of the people in this country really that ignorant, that ready to be manipulated?

Apparently… because unless we can come up with a decisive majority (like 60% or more) I have to assume the bought-and-paid-for Supreme Kangaroo Court will simply award the election to a Republican – again.
