JPMorgan Chase Buys NYPD For $4.6 Million

As the NYPD continues to brutally harass the peaceful protesters of Occupy Wall Street, JPMorgan Chase has announced an “unprecedented” donation to the New York City Police Foundation.

The corporate giant of the banking industry made a $4.6 million donation to the NYPD and bragged about it on their website. Here is the entire announcement:

New York City Police Foundation — New York

JPMorgan Chase recently donated an unprecedented $4.6 million to the New York City Police Foundation. The gift was the largest in the history of the foundation and will enable the New York City Police Department to strengthen security in the Big Apple. The money will pay for 1,000 new patrol car laptops, as well as security monitoring software in the NYPD’s main data center.

New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly sent CEO and Chairman Jamie Dimon a note expressing “profound gratitude” for the company’s donation.

“These officers put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe,” Dimon said. “We’re incredibly proud to help them build this program and let them know how much we value their hard work.”

If JPMorgan Chase had made this donation last year, it may not have been a blip on the radar. But this donation conveniently coincides with the Occupy Wall Street protests. The NYPD has drawn fire for their brutality against the peaceful protesters which has included slamming people to the ground, pepper spraying women and reporters, arresting children, and entrapping protesters on the Brooklyn Bridge after allowing them to march there in the first place. One can’t help but wonder if JPMorgan just purchased their own private police force. It’s clear that the NYPD is more motivated to defend the big bankers and CEOs who collapsed the economy and stole billions of dollars from the American people. JPMorgan Chase was one of these big banks. If the NYPD had a shred of honor, loyalty, and patriotism left, they would march lockstep into Wall Street and arrest the real criminals. At the very least they would allow the protesters to protest in peace which is a constitutionally protected right. But they aren’t doing that. Instead, they’ve been bought by Wall Street and now only protect and serve the corrupt.
