Herman Cain Calls Wall Street Protesters ‘Un-American’

Yesterday, Herman Cain said that the unemployed should blame themselves for being jobless and not rich. Later that day he claimed that the people protesting Wall Street are un-American. Cain made the comment to the Associated Press.

”Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain says the Occupy Wall Street protesters are un-American and against capitalism. Speaking to The Associated Press during a book signing event Wednesday in St. Petersburg, Fla., Cain said the protesters shouldn’t rally against Wall Street bankers or brokers because “they’re the ones who create the jobs.”

So when gun toting, Bible carrying nut jobs show up to protest, it’s patriotic. But when people show up to protest peacefully against fraud and greed, it’s ‘un-American.’ You know what’s really unpatriotic, Mr. Cain? People who question the patriotism of others for political gain. People who call fellow Americans ‘un-American’ because they exercise their constitutional rights. People who question the legitimacy of the President. People who take the side of a foreign leader over their own. People who try to crush voting rights. People who try to eliminate religious freedom for others. People who intentionally sabotage this country in an effort to make the President fail. Republicans have done all of these things. Those are the people I would call unpatriotic and un-American.

I think it’s a great idea to have full disclosure on ALL federal political office holders. This should include birth certificate, ALL school records, criminal background check and a statement listing any violation of local/state/federal statute sworn to and signed by the candidate. These leaders should be fully vetted and if in violation of law, required to stand trial for their violation(s). It only makes sense.

In a rush to judgment, Cain is painted with a statement he never made. The record exists, the WSJ interview exists and nowhere is he taped, videoed or directly quoted by first hand reports saying this. It’s a great example of partisan propaganda. H Post, Think Progress and other ‘progressive’ websites make this claim. Washington Wire has the interview and Cain’s statements online – LOOK AT IT for yourself. Then question those who ‘claim’ he said it.
