Harry Reid Grows A Pair, Goes Nuclear On GOP Obstructionism
Harry Reid has apparently channeled the spirit of Samuel L. Jackson and decided he’s had enough of these motherf%^&ing Republicans and their mother%^&ing filibusters!
In a move that left the Capitol reeling and the GOP absolutely furious, Reid herded the mass of cats that is the Democratic Party and unilaterally changed the rules of the Senate to neuter the GOP’s ability to obstruct every single piece of legislation to death.
While the Senate Republicans can still force any legislation to require a supermajority of 60 votes instead of a simple majority of 51, once that number has been reached, the options for blocking legislation have been severely curtailed.
What Reid has done is eliminate the ridiculous practice of forcing votes on amendments that have literally nothing to do with the bill on hand after the bill has moved to cloture (been passed). Republicans have been abusing this practice since 2009 in order to completely break the Senate in an extremely cynical bid to keep Democrats from passing much needed legislation to help the economy recover.
Too bad Reid waited this long to do it.
True to their childish nature, the Senate GOP has thrown an epic hissy fit that they had one of their toys taken away because they couldn’t play nicely with the other kids. A recess was called until Tuesday to give the children a chance to calm down.
“Just wait until they get into the minority!” one GOP staffer growled.
Oh boy! Just the kind measured, adult response one wishes to see in ones’ legislative body.
Just to be clear here, you’re going to hear how Reid and the Democrats are making it impossible for the Senate to function and that they’ve broken the legislative process.
Bullshit. The Republicans essentially shut the Senate down the second they became a minority by filibustering almost every bill brought before them since 2009. The number of filibusters imposed was double that ever seen before and it was done with the specific intent of crippling the huge majorities the Democrats enjoyed in both Houses.
Elections only have consequences when the Republicans win. When Democrats take over, it’s time to obstruct, obstruct, obstruct. Harry Reid just made it harder to do and the GOP can’t stand it.

Typical Republican reversal of the facts. I am so sick and tired of the whining Republicans I could puke. They have a bad habit of turning everything around, twisting the words, etc…to make themselves look better, and they are falling flat on thier faces this time, because we are on to them. I say the Republicans need to quit pointing the finger, and actually get some work done. They have done nothing for the last 3 years but obstruct our President’s ability to help the economy, just to make him look bad, and them look good. Well guys, it’s not working anymore, so shut the hell up and do the job the 99% of the American people want, and quit kissing up to big Corporate money, and the mega rich. Do your F’ing job, or you are going to get voted out!!!!! Get it?????????

Really? The Democrats have enough Washington support as well as media support and that’s why this country is in the shape it’s in. The Democrats need to stop pointing the finger and start looking at the ridiculously useless job that they have done. I am so sick and tired of their whining…..just admit it for once. And as for Harry Reid “growing a pair” that will never happen, hell Hillary’s is bigger than his will ever be!

Finally! Thank you, Mr. Reid. A step in the correct direction. Keep up the pressure…

Yay for Reid. Like you I wish this had happened sooner. The other thing is that I wish I heard more Democrat support. I mean from the people who work in Washington. But this is good news. I think what I will do is write to my senators (who both happen to be Democrats) and encourage them to I don’t know, hold a press conference have a twitter rally – something.
