Occupy Wall Street has finally gotten political attention, it’s about time! The next step is making the politicians listen.
Republicans leaders such as Peter King (R-NY), John Boehner (R-OH), Eric Cantor (R-VA) and Mitch McConnell (R-KY) initially dismissed the protesters as thugs or an undesirable mob that does not have a message. For those politicians that still believe this misguided thought, you might want to check out this webpage. http://occupywallst.org/article/a-message-from-occupied-wall-street-day-five/
Democratic leaders immediately voiced support and empathy for the protesters. So in order to not look like the bad guys, the Republicans decided that maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to ridicule this growing “mob” because the vastly increasing number of protesters might not appreciate being called thugs. So the Republicans switched their song to – the protesters are angry with the Obama administration for creating class warfare. Really guys, really?
If I remember correctly it was the Republicans that campaigned on Jobs, Jobs, Jobs. So where are the jobs? The Republicans have touted more tax breaks for the rich as the answer, as if this has worked so well for the past ten years. The United States now has the greatest wealth inequity of most countries in the world. How is such a standing good for America as a whole?
When President Obama was early in his Presidency, prominent Republican leaders announced that their main goal was to make sure President Obama fails. Wow, what a goal when your job is to serve the American people, because if President Obama fails, we as a country also fail. It has become quite obvious that Republicans only care about political games to gain more control.
Democratic leaders have drafted numerous jobs bills since President Obama has been in office, only to be defeated by a Republican filibuster. The GOP does not want President Obama to get any credit. So Republicans filibuster job bills, then they point their finger at President Obama while asking, where are the jobs?
My question to the Republicans, do you really think Americans are so stupid that we can’t see what you are doing? Occupy Wall Street is about the corruption and greed that is allowed to continue in America. The Republicans are chiefly responsible, especially if their main goal is to do nothing because they’re are trying desperately to make President Obama look bad.
Finally we find it extremely appalling that Republicans made a pledge to the lobbyist Grover Norquist to never raise taxes. Why do you make a pledge to a lobbyist? Shouldn’t you be making a pledge to represent what’s best for America as a whole?
With this in mind, how is it fair that the middle class is stuck paying a higher percentage in taxes, while the wealthy are coddled with far lower tax rates? Your constituents are having difficultly making ends meet, while your corporate buddies that line your campaign coffers with millions of dollars, are growing richer by the day, all thanks to that pledge you made.
So go ahead and continue your games of protecting the 1% that bribe your decision making process and trying to make President Obama look bad. 99% of Americans are extremely angry, we’re fed up with your games that are literally killing America.
