Republican Agenda: From 0 To Starvation In 21 Days (Video)

One in seven households in the U.S. are “food insecure,” meaning that getting enough to eat is a daily struggle. Within that statistic, 9.8% of children were “food insecure” at some point during the year in 2010. For the past seven decades, there’s been a proven correlation between high fertility rates and poverty - rising out of poverty is more difficult for large, than small, families.

As we watch Republicans pathologically work against abortion rights – as well as the ability of low-income women to engage in family planning, as evidenced by the determined efforts of teabagging Republicans to defund Planned Parenthood – we know what the end result is: Poverty combined with unwanted children translates into hunger for families – and almost 10% of our nation’s kids.

I made this video to illustrate the Republican agendas that blithely ignore the element of hunger in this country, that blithely dismiss womens’ health as irrelevant, that blithely disregard the impact of poverty on our nation’s children, that seek to end school lunch programs, that seek to deny women healthcare, that disallow women to end a pregnancy that would create hardship and increased poverty. Harry Chapin’s powerful song, The Shortest Story, depicts the life of an infant, who is born into poverty and starves to death in 20 days.

Hey Republicans . . . do you really not care? At all?
