According To New Poll, Hillary Clinton Beats The Pants Off Of The Entire Republican Field Of Presidential Candidates

She may not be running for President in 2012, but if Hillary Clinton were running for President instead of the embattled President Obama, she would wipe the floor with each and every Republican candidate in the field, so says a new poll conducted by Time Magazine.

Among likely voters in a general election, America’s top diplomat leads GOP front runner Mitt ‘The Flipper’ Romney, 55% to 38%; George W. Bush impersonator Rick Perry, 58% to 32%; and the Godfather’s Pizza man Herman Cain, 56% to 34%. According to Time, “The same poll found that President Obama would edge Romney by just 46% to 43%, Perry by 50% to 38% and Cain by 49% to 37% among likely voters.” For those of you keeping score, Clinton is polling better than Obama.

Clinton has strongly ruled out a 2012 run and while 2016 would be her best opportunity, her aides say it’s unlikely. She’ll be 69 years old come Election Day that year, but that really doesn’t matter much since women age better than men do. Obviously progressives would be overjoyed if she were the Democratic candidate this time around, but if we don’t want to be ruled by the iron fist of the GOP, Obama should be everyone’s choice. But that doesn’t mean we can’t draft Clinton for a 2016 campaign. After all, with numbers like hers, she could easily become the first woman President in American history. If you ask me, that’s going to be extremely difficult to pass up.
