Rick Perry: Money ‘The Most Highly Overrated Thing In The World’

Ya’ gotta hand it to Rick Perry. He doesn’t even try to sugar coat his plutocratic views. In an interview Tuesday, he commented on the Occupy Wall Street movement by saying that they shouldn’t worry about it, that money is overrated.

“You know, we have young people who are today occupying Wall Street, that there are some people out there that are making too much money, And if somebody were to ask me what the best advice that I could give them? It would be that money is probably the most highly overrated thing in the world from the standpoint of really being happy with your life.”

“It’s good to have some,” he admitted. “Because I’ve been without and I’ve had some, and it’s better to have some. But the fact is, go find that passion in your life. You know, if it’s teaching seventh grade children about science…”

Rick Perry is among the 1%, but The Occupy Wall Street movement is not about coveting his wealth. It’s about the fact that 1% of the country makes the laws and those laws are designed specifically to protect their wealth. It’s about the fact that 99% of the country is being pushed further and further down the hole. It’s about the fact that the American dream no longer exists. It’s about the fact that his Republican party wants to destroy the unions that help the people that want to teach seventh grade science. It’s about the fact that following your passion, instead of the almighty dollar, could result in a smothering student loan debt, no health insurance and abject poverty.

Yes, Rick Perry, having millions of dollars is probably overrated, yet your ilk certainly goes to great lengths to ensure even more overrated wealth, at the expense of others’ ability to survive.
