Eating Their Own: Conservative Editor Calls For Ouster Of Grover Norquist From Conservative Movement
Grover Norquist is a product of the Reagan Administration. As a result of Reagan’s call for lower taxes, Norquist created Americans For Tax Reform, a conservative organization that lobbies for lower taxes, which has been a conservative platform centerpiece for decades. Most Republicans in Congress have signed Norquist’s pledge to not raise taxes which has brought Congress to a standoff. Republicans have refused to agree with any plan that raises revenues, even if it’s a minuscule tax increase. But now, conservatives are beginning to turn on Norquist and are calling for his ouster from the conservative movement.
For three years, Republicans have sought to purify their party by moving further to the right. Many moderates have seen themselves pushed out of their party. Any Republican who doesn’t hold the line gets the boot. Now it’s Norquist’s turn. Conservative editor Joseph Farah of WorldNetDaily is calling for Norquist to be thrown out of the conservative movement that he helped build, and is specifically calling on the American Conservative Union and the National Rifle Association to ouster him from their ranks. Why you ask? Because Norquist supports GOProud, a gay conservative group, and helped found the Islamic Free Market Institute. As a result of these connections, Norquist is being labeled as “pro-perversion” and “pro-Islamist.

In his column, Farah writes,
“I say this not only because of his decidedly Shariah-friendly activities and associations.
I say it not only because of his decision to bless GOProud, a faux conservative group promoting the homosexual agenda to Republicans.
I also say it because Norquist represents all that is wrong with the so-called “economic conservatives” in our midst – a group that turns out to be not so conservative on economics once you scratch beneath the surface of what they are saying and doing.
Grover Norquist is not a conservative true believer. He may have been at one time. But he is no longer – that’s for certain. Maybe, like other politicians, he’s just been around Washington too long. Here’s the scorecard you should consider:
• He’s shockingly pro-Islamist and has used his well-developed connections in Washington to spread the tentacles of stealthy jihad through the corridors of power, including the White House.
• He’s is unashamedly pro-perversion, given his position on the advisory board of GOProud.
• And he is a phony economic conservative who helped mislead tea-party Republicans in control of the House of Representatives this year giving Obama all the money he needed to keep destroying the free-enterprise system through the end of his term.
What am I missing here?
It’s time to dump Grover Norquist – dump him from the ACU board, dump him from the NRA board and dump him as the economic guru of the conservative movement and Republican Party.”
Isn’t is fun to watch conservatives eat their own? After years of trying to purify their party, conservatives are now going after each other. You know that the conservative movement has gone over edge when even a conservative guru like Grover Norquist isn’t safe.
