Rick Perry Thinks Canada Is Not A Foreign Country

Author: December 28, 2011 11:45 am

In an Iowa campaign event, Rick Perry told yesterday’s crowd,

“Every barrel of oil that comes out of those sands in Canada is a barrel of oil that we don’t have to buy from a foreign source,” Mr. Perry said in Clarinda, earning a loud round of enthusiastic applause.

Later, the audience reacted again to Mr. Perry’s assertion that buying so much energy from foreign countries is “not good policy, it’s not good politics and frankly it’s un-American.”

Even if the alleged secessionist was talking about the North American continent instead of simply being geographically ignorant, he does ignore one fact, whether the oil comes from the Middle East, Texas or Canada, it all goes into the world’s oil market. If OPEC was to suddenly cut off our supply, Canada won’t suddenly swoop in to the rescue. The price of all oil would dramatically rise.

  • Wow! This isn’t a site flocked to by flaming liberals is it?! I find amusing that you are so concerned about some ‘idiot’ Republican becoming President when the biggest idiot ON THE PLANET currently holds the position. No matter who we elect in 2012, they couldn’t do a worse job.

  • In his book Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail Hunter S Thompson wrote a chapter called ‘Why i have Hubert Humphrey’.
Thompsons words painted a picture of a man desperate for the Presidency who would say anything to anyone if it helped him first get the nomination and then the job.
It could have been written about numerous other politicians and for completely opposite reason i like Ron Paul.
That isn’t to say that i endorse everything that Paul is saying but he certainly isn’t saying it to be popular!
I like Ron Paul because he is challenging US political and the GOP establishment.
I like Ron Paul because he defends individual liberty and free speech.
I like Ron Paul because he opposes the imperialist foreign policy of the United States and says bring the troops home.
I like Ron Paul because he is a conviction politician.
    Go Ron.

  • apparently, his cheering audience is also geographically challenged

  • as a canadian seeing this….. the only thing i find to say is….. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…. thank you for reading.
