Rick Santorum Doubles Down, Says States Have Right To Declare Birth Control Illegal (VIDEO)

Author: January 3, 2012 11:02 am

Without a doubt, Rick Santorum is the most dangerous threat to women in the Republican Presidential race. He believes premarital sex should be outlawed, believes women have no right to accessible medical care, and that contraceptives should be illegal.

During an ABC interview with Jake Tapper on Monday, Santorum doubled down on his beliefs regarding contraceptives that prevent unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases, telling Tapper that states can outlaw contraceptives.

“The state has a right to do that, I have never questioned that the state has a right to do that. It is not a constitutional right, the state has the right to pass whatever statutes they have. That is the thing I have said about the activism of the Supreme Court, they are creating right, and they should be left up to the people to decide.”

As Iowans cast their primary ballots today, the women should keep in mind that if they vote for Santorum, they’ll be voting against their own rights and privacy. Most women in America have used a contraceptive method at least once in their lives. Contraceptives prevent disease and have helped slash the abortion rate. But Rick Santorum thinks men should be able to pass on disease and impregnate women at will and that women should be powerless to protect themselves. Santorum believes men like him control what women do with their bodies. That is a true violation of constitutional rights. The Supreme Court didn’t “create right.” The court ruled that women had the right to personal liberty and privacy like everyone else. Those rights were already in the Constitution.

Santorum is the kind of man who thinks women should be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen and that’s it. He’s the kind of man who thinks women should be submissive to men. You know, a Neanderthal.

Santorum is a monomaniac bent on implementing Fundamentalist Christian evangelical values as Federal law, completely ignoring separation of Church and State (his version – the church is across the street, the White house is here, there is at least two city blocks separating them, so even though i am imposing Old Testament law, what’s the problem…)

BTW, notice that “Santorum” spellchecks to “Sanatorium.” I don’t normally comment on name-calling (calling him a sociopath is accurate, calling him a racist may be, calling him an asshole, while true, is not productive. But in this case I will make the exception…

Hey, Ricky, you fake Christian! Wake the fuck up! Overpopulation is going to swarm the planet and destroy THE SPECIES, (unless you fund the fuck out of NASA so they can find us somewhere else to live that doesn’t have Republicans in it…)

This IS the elephant in the room, and even discussing it brings out the macho, he-man “Me want baby” attitude from all sorts of sources. This issue MUST be addressed, or we will simply swarm the planet and overwhelm ALL the resources – food, water, lean air, etc.

WE are NOT sustainable. We must learn to manage our own growth rate and get it down to 0% POPULATION GROWTH RATE.

Santorum would kill us to satisfy his religious conservative views, that, as always, are completely out of touch with reality. By definition. They are FAITH-based, not FACT-based, and therefore, MUST be wrong. Faith is the greatest killer of humanity, it leads us to act insanely, and self-perpetuates with no recourse. (“I don’t understand.” “You must have faith.” yeah, right. Arrogant Xians. If ALL people of faith believed EXACTLY the same thing, MAYBE i would consider the validity. Hey, when that happens, get back to me. Till then – GO TO CHURCH AND SPOUT YOUR INSANITY – AND STAY THE FUCK OUT OF POLITICS!

    Got it? Bye, bye, Rickie-tickie.

  • Santorum is also against abortion for ANY reason; however, he and his wife aborted a 20-week fetus to save the wife’s life. Why is it okay for him but for nobody else?

  • Why not apply the Lysistrata principle (after the famous Greek play, where Lysistrata lead the Athenian and Spartan women to a sex strike, even including the prostitutes, to stop the war and senseless bloodshed)? If they believe that men should control women’s sexuality, then all women should declare a sex strike (and take over Federal and State Treasury) on all men who support this measure. As I heard one, if men do not believe that women should have rights over their own bodies, they can go and f*** themselves…alone

  • The Big Blue Frog

Displaying his signature, frothy mixture of slippery ignorance and smelly fundamentalism, Santorum is trying to out-Bachmann Bachmann and out-Paul Paul.

  • You want to ban birth control, Senator?

Heh, heh, heh, you will try…
