Newt Gingrich Says He Would Fire And Discriminate Against Federal Employees He Considers Too Liberal
Newt Gingrich has taken a lot of heat the last couple months over his intent to abolish federal judges he disagrees with. Now he wants to do the same thing to all federal employees. In what would be a direct violation of federal discrimination law, Newt Gingrich suggested that he would fire federal employees he considers too liberal during a Fox News forum hosted by Mike Huckabee on Saturday. According to Talking Points Memo, Gingrich told Huckabee,
“I think an intelligent conservative wants the right federal employees delivering the right services in a highly efficient way and then wants to get rid of those folks who are in fact wasteful, or those folks who are ideologically so far to the left, or those people who want to frankly dictate to the rest of us.”

In other words, he’d fire liberals and replace them with conservative extremists. Of course to Newt Gingrich that means anyone who has a heart or does the right thing for people. I’m sure Newt would also consider age, color, and education level to make his decisions since minorities, the elderly, young people, and those with college degrees are more likely to be liberal. That means Newt would replace them all with uneducated white middle-aged people who love to hate others. It would be his dream government. It’s just more evidence that Republicans want to rule with an iron fist.

Any President has a right to his political appointees and nominations, but I’m pretty sure there are civil service protections for rank and file employees precisely to guard against this.
