Santorum Says Women Who Are Raped Should Have Their Rapist’s Baby Because It’s A Gift From God (VIDEO)

Rick Santorum is, by far, the greatest enemy to women of all the candidates in the Republican Presidential race. He has made it clear that he intends to make abortion illegal, even in cases of rape and incest, and will ban birth control and contraceptives in all forms. He’s also suggested that pre-marital sex should be illegal as well. But during an interview with Piers Morgan last Friday, Santorum showed just how insensitive he is towards women who get raped.

After Morgan asked Santorum to clarify his views about abortion, the former Senator and evangelical lackey said that women should have their rapist’s baby and make the best of it because God is giving them a gift. In other words, get over it and take what God gives you without question. Here’s his full statement.

“Well, you can make the argument that if she doesn’t have this baby, if she kills her child, that that, too, could ruin her life. And this is not an easy choice. I understand that. As horrible as the way that that son or daughter and son was created, it still is her child. And whether she has that child or doesn’t, it will always be her child. And she will always know that. And so to embrace her and to love her and to support her and get her through this very difficult time, I’ve always, you know, I believe and I think the right approach is to accept this horribly created — in the sense of rape — but nevertheless a gift in a very broken way, the gift of human life, and accept what God has given to you. As you know, we have to, in lots of different aspects of our life. We have horrible things happen. I can’t think of anything more horrible. But, nevertheless, we have to make the best out of a bad situation.”

Here’s the video:

What kind of a man of God can legitimize rape as a device through which God gives women a gift? It’s a disgusting thing to say. Women who are raped go through hell. And yet, Santorum wants to force women, as if they haven’t been forced to already go through enough hell, to go through nine agonizing months of pregnancy, which will be a constant reminder of the rape. On top of that, his desire to ban all forms of contraceptives will make it even more likely for rape to result in pregnancy. Forcing a woman to carry the baby of their rapist is akin to rewarding the rapist. The rapist not only gets progeny, he gets to revel in the pain and suffering he has caused that woman to go through for nine additional months. He is basically empowering rapists and saying that God sanctions rapes. It’s wrong and Santorum is a sorry excuse for a human being.

    How sick.

I almost want to see this jerk win the nomination, though I wouldn’t want to see his hateful beliefs get so much validation. What WOULD be fun is to watch President Obama mop the floor with his sanctimonious ass in a debate. Wouldn’t that be delicious?

Santorum wants a theocracy. It is just that simple. Don’t vote to turn America into Iran.

What’s most frightening is he is not only allowed this thoughts (which are his to have and his right) but to voice them, compounding the fear is that he has been actively encouraged to voice them as political beliefs.

It’s been bothering me that these candidates, all of them, are saying what they WILL do when, not if, elected…without regard to the process that our government is formed of…I guess each of them isn’t running for the nomination for the Presidency of the US, but running for the dictatorship of the country.

I completely agree! It only seems logical to me for new bills to be voted upon by the people. We vote for our government officers, and we should vote on everything else that effects us too! One person, or even a group of people should not determine what is best for us! We the people should do all the deciding! This way, our government will not be puppets of the big companies, but to us!

I’m so glad to see this douchebag slipping in the polls. He has NO empathy for women whatsoever! I can’t imagine he would insist his own wife or child go through this. He did make an exception for his wife, didn’t he? Did the Pope approve that one, Rick, or did you make that call on your own? Hypocritical dirtbag, I feel so much pity for his family. I can only imagine what it must be like living in his home.

Using Santorum logic, everything must be a Gift from God, or God’s Will, so a person who is violently murdered – well that’s just what God ordained, just like the teenage girl who is violently raped by her drunken stepfather – that’s what God wanted for her, or the 15 year old who is dragged into the woods and gang raped by a bunch of thugs – that is God’s will too. SANTORUM IS INSANE. I totally reject any religion or any religious nut who believes this crap!

“It became very clear to me that life begins at conception.”

No. It didn’t ‘become very clear’. It is a religious BELIEF and a religious ASSERTION, and nothing more than that. It is an edict from ‘authority’, and has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with truth or science.

Any vote for the man is a vote for the destruction of your very soul.

I wanna see what the conversation is when Santorum finally comes face-to-face with his Savior.

    (sigh)……You’re excused, Mr. Santorum.
