Zack Ford makes an excellent point. Mitt Romney gave more money to the Mormon Church than he paid in taxes in 2010. That’s all fine and dandy and I’m sure the Christian Right wackos will say it’s better to give to God than to the IRS. But let’s look at what the Mormon Church professes.
Ford brings up societal and legislative discrimination against gays as a solid platform of the Mormon discipline. While that’s important enough, we can’t neglect to mention just how far out of the mainstream this church really is.

Mark B. above would like us to stop dissing the Mormons and get on with our lives. That’s quite amusing, Mark B. ‘At least they believe in something.’
The CULT of Christianity comes from the BRONZE AGE.
The CULT of Mormonism was wholly made up by an American charlatan in the 19th century.
One pre-dates the Age of Science by a millenium and a half. The other was made up for monetary purposes well after the start of the Age of Science.
Neither is accurate in any respect whatsoever. Both are beliefs, requiring the total and complete suspension of rational thought.
Now, Mark. Do you really think that that’s a requirement in the 21st century? Apparently, you believe rather than know and would have the rest of us believe rather than know. And that’s something to be proud of and to lift up highly for all of us to see.
Sorry, facts are facts. Magic underwear is not magic. The planet Kolob doesn’t exist. A Jewish man who was a god and was a man at the same time, didn’t kill himself on a cross to redeem anything or anyone. It’s all a joke.
But you want us to move on and ignore all that in favor of someone’s fantasy. That’s why this country’s Republican party is also a joke.
What is frightening is that today religion is worn like a cloak of political astuteness. That religion plays a larger role in campaigns than issues.
JFK, the first and only Catholic President this country ever had was astute enough politically to keep his religion out of his politics and out of our Presidency.
Issues, not religion.
