Mitch Daniels Is a Bald-Faced Liar

Not surprisingly the GOP selected a man that knows nothing about sane economic policy to deliver their SOTU rebuttal.  In other words they selected George Bush’s budget director.  In the response Mitch Daniels claims:

“When President Obama claims that the state of our union is anything but grave, he must know in his heart that this is not true,” Daniels said. He added that while Obama did not cause the country’s economic and budget problems, “He was elected on a promise to fix them, and he cannot claim that the last three years have made things anything but worse.”

Nothing could be less true.

Set aside for a moment that Mitch Daniels was George W. Bush’s budget director that signed off on making the budget surplus a multi-hundred billion deficit within a few quick months after taking office.  Just set aside the fact Daniels presided over the largest increase in budget deficit history. Never mind that that alone should make him completely non-credible when talking about sound budgets ever again.  But in the GOP Fantasy World, it only makes him a budget and economic genius that gets to go on teevee pretending he’s got all the answers.

Instead let’s focus on the huge lie that Obama has made things worse.  The amazement that such a sentence can be spoken with a straight face only proves just how out of touch the GOP really is. When Obama took office in 2009 the economy was bleeding almost a million jobs a month. In the last year alone, the economy has added 1.9 million jobs.  Since 2010, total job creation is 2.9 million. In no way, shape or form is that “worse.”

Again, consider the Dow is up 85% since Obama took office.  Bush presided over the largest monetary loss in the history of the Dow.  It’s no longer in free fall.  It’s gaining value again.  In every sense of the word, that means it is not “worse.”

The budget deficit, which Republicans now claim to care about since they are out of power, has shrunk under President Obama.  Not to mention, the largest contributor to the budget deficit (and our federal debt) are the Bush tax cuts that Daniels instituted when he was Bush’s budget chief, along with other left over Bush policies.

Things aren’t great.  But they are no way “worse” than they were when George Bush was president. You would have to be mentally retarded, just waking up from a 3 year coma and lacking all your chromosomes to think the economy is worse. Or be Republican, because really there is no difference.

Yes, precisely. Mitch Daniels IS a bald-faced liar.

Almost anyone listening to Mitch Daniels’ “rebuttal” of the State of the Union address would have concluded that by the second minute of his “rebuttal”, which was about the time it took him to spout three misdirections, two utterly off-the-wall statements and four downright lies.

Of course, since he was the Republican’t tasked with calling Obama a liar this time, you wouldn’t expect much else from him. And since he’s a Republican’t, and the Republican’ts have all sworn to be nothing but obstructionist until everyone magically begins to believe THEIR sabotage of the United States really IS Obama’s fault, his “rebuttal” makes perfect, if bizarre, sense.

    For a Republican’t.

What’s that you say? You think “sabotage” is too strong a word? I personally believe it’s both appropriate and absolutely correct. Look at the “legislation” being pushed in the various states by the Republican’t members of their State Congresses. Look at the inane “legislation” being argued over in our Federal Congress, while real issues like the appointment of the heads of regulatory agencies and REAL legislation that could stop the excesses of big banks, big business and our “legislators” themselves is either endlessly obstructed or voted against by the people who want to force teachers to tell our children that “creationism” is science, end minimum wage protections and put poor children back to work in factories for slave wages.

I have a challenge for all the Republican’ts who truly believe that our government is broken and it’s futile to attempt to fix it, because it just doesn’t work any more.

    Quit.

All of you Republican’ts who believe our government is broken, and there’s no use in trying to fix it, just flat our resign your posts in protest. Leave it to the people who honestly want to fix the country, so that when all the “socialists” and “liberals” and “bleeding-heart do-gooders” fail and the country’s economy collapses, you can stand back with pride and say, “See, I told you-all that wouldn’t work.”

Oh, and give up your lifetime health care, your lifetime pensions, and any money you’ve received in salaries from your time as a “legislator”, because all that money and those benefits are the profits of “socialist” enterprise, and you don’t want to have anything to do with socialism, now do you?

Just follow Michele Bachmann’s lead and admit that you’re all liars and saboteurs, so the gullible people you dupe into supporting you at least get to hear you tell the truth once in your blighted lives.

    God help us all.

  • Probably only two people out of ten know who Mitch Daniels is. It seems strange that the GOP would pick him for a rebuttal. Maybe they just wanted to invoke Bush’s name for those who think the tax cuts he instituted were the greatest thing since the Alamo.
