Rick Santorum is desperate for votes in his bid to become the Republican Presidential nominee. He’s also still foaming at the mouth to wage war against Iran. So Santorum used the specter of a nuclear attack to strike fear into the hearts and minds of Missourians during a speech on Friday.
“Once they have a nuclear weapon, let me assure you, you will not be safe, even here in Missouri. These are folks who have been and are at war with us since 1979. This is a country that has killed more troops in Afghanistan and Iraq than the Iraqis and the Afghans.”

Here’s the video:
First of all, many countries have nukes capable of reaching Missouri. Some of them could actually pose a future threat to us. But then again, we have a nuclear arsenal that can destroy the world dozens of times over so I’m sure our enemies are just as worried about us as well. Second, America cannot afford a war with Iran. It would cause a global conflict that would cost more lives and money than the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan combined. And third, I live in Missouri. So if Rick Santorum wants me to believe that Iran has a nuclear weapon, he’s going to have to Show Me. I’m not going to take his word for it. Remember when President Bush asked us to take his word for it when he claimed Iraq had nukes? That turned out to be a waste of lives and money. Iran claims they are just developing nuclear energy, which is different from nuclear weapons. And I’d much rather give the sanctions we have slapped Iran with a chance to work. Republican scare tactics are getting old and have done nothing but make Americans paranoid and fearful to the point where they don’t think about the issues with a clear head. If they actually stopped to think about it, Republicans are already doing their utmost to destroy America and make the people suffer. So, considering what Republicans want to do to America, at least a nuke would be quick and painless by comparison.
