New Legislation: No To Abortion? No to Viagra!

Pema Levy from TPM reports Ohio State Senator Nina Turner (D-Cleveland) will introduce a bill restricting Viagra and other erectile dysfunction medications.

“…Turner’s legislation would make men jump through certain hoops – such as psychological screenings – before they could obtain the meds.”

“”All across the country, including in Ohio, I thought since men are certainly paying great attention to women’s health that we should definitely return the favor,” Tuner told TPM.  Her bill is one of several pieces of legislation offered over the past several weeks by women lawmakers eager to prove a point about the raging contraception debate.  Their bills seek to regulate men’s sexual health, from Viagra to vasectomies, just as Republican-led state governments and Congress have zeroed in on access to abortion and family planning care.”

Although we should be concerned about our legal system being used as a ploy to outdo one another, simply discussing the facts and evidence has had no effect on the party who views “Compromise as siding with the enemy.”  If we are not permitted to voice our opposition by merit against a bill, then we may as well confront them with the same disregard and insensitivity as they have shown their co-legislatures.

I’m certain Republicans will be crying foul over this.  But this is there own tactic at play; “fight fire with fire”.  So Republican objections will hold no merit.
