The news of George Zimmerman’s arrest and charges of Second Degree murder for the shooting of Trayvon Martin brought much-needed closure to Trayvon’s family, protestors, and to the calm and rational citizens following this tragedy closely. But not to the rabid racists at Fox Nation.
Now, the racial overtones of the Trayvon Martin case has unleashed a whole new level of racism not seen since lynchings in the South. And if there’s anything worse that putrid racism, it’s grammatically incorrect putrid racism.

Fox News readers, very analogous to its viewers, immediately strike me as the type of people who think President Obama is an evil black socialist who’s going to show up at their house, kick over their Mountain Dew Code Red, expropriate their Nutter Butters, and pilfer their guns and bibles and convert them into hard dollars to redistribute to Marxist throughout the land. The only difference, of course, is that while Fox News viewers can simply shout fragmented slurs of incoherence and shoot at the television screen, Fox News readers can actually write (or their version of writing since learnin’ be for socialists and terrorists) what they’re thinking for all eyes to see.
Fox News’ readers have unleashed a fury of racism with regard to the Trayvon Martin case in the past, so these most recent racist rantings hardly flabbergast. However, they must have channeled their anger from that one time when their African-American Wal-Mart underling addressed them by their first name or something.

I think it’s heartbreaking that there is so much blatant hatred in our country and also that the comments people made on the Fox website are disgusting, it says a lot about Fox that they have allowed to leave those posts on their site. I think that people are even more comfortable voicing their nastiness because they can stay anonymous on the internet and also because we have a political climate that is just bristling with racism, misogyny and horribleness. When politicians start spewing that stuff out it seems to make it acceptable to a certain group of people, to start spewing it out themselves. We need to start taking people to task for it.
I’m with Nancy on this one, a person isn’t guilty until proven so. Do I THINK he’s guilty, hell yeah, but I’m not going to state it as a fact until all of the facts are out and the hearing is complete. I’d also like to hear why he did it, not through the filter of journalists looking for a dramatic story, but the actual transcripts. When you read an article, any article, or see a story on the news it’s going to be biased because humans, every single one of us, have biases whether it’s something as small as taking issue with people who wear socks with sandals (that’s one of my personal gripes), people with religious biases or people with racial biases. (clearly Fox is ridiculously guilty of this) So deciding someone’s guilt based on what we are hearing from something other than a reliable source, is just asking for trouble. I’m not a fan of witch hunts, I’d hope none of you are either. I think it’s interesting that some of the same folks who get on the case of republicans (and rightly so) for making important choices based on their emotions, biases, religious beliefs and assumptions are perfectly happy doing the same thing when it suits them.
Regarding the grammar policing, I get it, a writer made grammatical errors while pointing out the errors of someone else. It’s been duly noted, could we please stop nitpicking and start discussing something important?
