By now it should be quite clear that the only one excited about Mitt Romney being the Republican nominee is President Obama. After all, Romney can’t even seem to get himself to show the emotion of excitement. But a group of Tea Party House members had a little get-together on Tuesday to talk about conservative issues and the 2012 Election.
According to Slate, there wasn’t a lot of enthusiasm in the air when a journalist asked them if they were excited about Mitt Romney being their party’s nominee.
“”Well, first, we’re excited about the opportunity to defeat Barack Obama, more than anything,” said Rep. Jim Jordan, the shirtsleeved chairman of the Republican Study Committee. “It’s high time that conservatives start getting excited,” said Rep. Raul Labrador, “start working for the nominee.” Rep. Joe Walsh argued that Barack Obama’s popularity was cratering even in Illinois. “The excitement, the passion in this race,” he said, “will come from getting Barack Obama out of the White House.”"
I’d say it’s safe to say these guys are less excited about Mitt Romney, and more desperate to oust the man they hate from the White House. And when Texas Representative Louie Gohmert chipped in his two cents, he not only confirmed the lack of excitement and growing desperation, he accidentally slammed Romney for his excessive flip flopping on the issues.
“If you’re not sure about whether to support Mitt Romney, whether you’re liberal, or whether you’re very conservative, you ought to be excited, because he’s been on your side at one time or another.”
Ouch! That had to sting. What Gohmert just highlighted so well is the fact that Mitt Romney constantly flip flops on the issues to desperately pander to voters so that he can get what he wants. No matter the issue, Romney has taken every position on that issue across the political spectrum. As a result, it’s hard to trust him because nobody knows where he actually stands on the issues. Romney does this so much that he has been referred to as an Etch-A-Sketch by one of his own advisers. He has even stated that we haven’t seen his “real views” yet. So he says he has been lying to conservatives this whole time so he could have the opportunity to lie to all of us during the general election. Classy.
Gohmert wasn’t finished yet, however. He came back with the intention of cleaning up his remarks but he actually did more damage. “So I’m not completely misunderstood,” he said, “I’m not as excited as I am desperate.”
So you see, Republicans are not excited about Mitt Romney. They’re just so desperate to kick the first black President out of what they see as the seat of white power that they are literally willing to vote for anyone. They’d vote for Satan if he were the Republican nominee. Of course, Republicans would probably be way more excited to vote for Satan than they are about Romney.
