Michele Bachmann is an idiot, and apparently she’s also a racist. In 2011, Colorado Republican Rep. Doug Lamborn used the term ‘tar baby’ to describe President Obama. After much outrage, he was forced to apologize. A year later, Bachmann is using the term to once again describe President Obama. During an interview on the Shark Tank blog, Bachmann complained about President Obama’s oil policy, claiming that he has the power to lower gas prices, which is false as Fox News pointed out in 2008. Later on in the interview, Bachmann said that President Obama is “waving a tar baby in the air’ and blaming others for high gas prices.
“If there is a problem then president Obama is the problem for failing to utilize these tools that he has. This is just about waving a tar baby in the air and saying that something else is the problem. I have never seen a more irresponsible president who is infantile in the way that he continually blames everybody else for his failure to, first, diagnose the problem and, second, to address the problem. It’s always everyone else’s fault. The president is a complete and utter fraud and a hypocrite on this issue, with all due respect to the president.”
Here’s the video:
Bachmann is claiming that the President is powerful enough to lower gas prices all by himself. But that’s not true. Gas prices are determined by the market, not the President, as Fox News gladly pointed out when George W. Bush was President. Here’s the video for that:
The really infuriating part of this diatribe of falsehoods by Bachmann is that she used a derogatory term to describe President Obama. The term ‘tarbaby’ is akin to calling an African-American the ‘N’ word and thus shouldn’t ever be used, especially if you are a politician giving an interview. Republicans have never been shy about their racist attitudes toward President Obama. At the end of March, Rick Santorum seemed to have to stop himself from referring to President Obama a ‘n****r’ during a speech. Newt Gingrich has referred to the President as the ‘food stamp President.’ Rush Limbaugh referred to Obama as ‘Barack the magic Negro’ and Republican lawmakers around the country have pushed birther legislation because they don’t believe President Obama was born in America. Because the President is black, Republicans assume he was naturally born in Africa. Racism is a plague within the Republican Party. The sad part is that racism is acceptable to the party and is used to attack President Obama on a daily basis. Michele Bachmann is just the latest Republican to do so.
