In Mississippi, where being gay is just as illegal as reading over shooting at the moon, it’s truly befitting that its Governor be a religious wing-nut. Following his decision to sign a bill that could close the only existing abortion clinic in the state of Mississippi, Miss. Governor Phil Bryant joined equally far-right wing-nut, Tony Perkins, and apparently told the conservative firebrand that Democrats’ “one mission in life is to abortion children.” Not the biggest national secret since Watergate!
Even if you believe in abortion, the hypocrisy of the left that now tried to kill this bill, that says that I should have never signed it, the true hypocrisy is that their one mission in life is to abort children, is to kill children in the womb,“ he said. ”It doesn’t really matter, they don’t care if the mother’s life is in jeopardy, that if something goes wrong that a doctor can’t admit them to a local hospital, that he’s not even board certified.” (Source: Huff Po)
On the contrary, most non-insane people, irrespective of party, want to ensure that women are able to make their own decisions regarding their body, as codified in the Supreme Court’s Roe. V Wade decision. However, it would seem that Republicans and Governor Bryant’s sole mission in life is to be anti-choice (even in case of rape or incest), anti-social safety net for poor children, anti-contraception, pro-death penalty and pro-war all while claiming to be super pro-life. That state assistance for a family of three in Mississippi is $175.00 a month is irrefutable proof that the only way for a mother to receive financial assistance in Mississippi is to hold up a sign that reads “former fetus”. .
The sensible thing to do would be to inform the governor that
one-third of the women in this country have had an abortion and that some of them are surely Republicans. Again, pretending that the Governor understands that politics has nothing to do with the uterus. But instead of illuminating the governor of that salient point, Tony Perkins decided to one up the Governor in the department of woeful ignorance like two white businessmen trying to out racist joke each other on the golf course.
