Ann Romney Claims Mitt Is A Crazy Wild Man On The Inside

Mitt Romney is desperate to flip his image around to seem more excitable, likable, and appealing. Being seen as out of touch with the American people is not a good thing when you’re running for President, just ask John McCain. Romney has tried time and time again to relate, but he can’t do it. He acts like a wealthy braggart who wants people to believe he’s like every other American. Romney claims he knows what it’s like to be unemployed even though he has never had to worry about money. He makes $10,000 bets, has off-shore bank accounts, says the over $300,000 in speaking fees he has received isn’t much money, says he likes firing people, and isn’t concerned about the very poor. His terminal awkwardness and stiffness has damaged him among most Americans. Even conservatives have a hard time liking him. When President Obama sings, women swoon. When Romney sings, women cringe. No matter what Romney says or talks about, he says it as if he was barred from expressing any emotion as a child. It’s a plague on his campaign. So what’s his solution? Ann Romney.

Incapable of flip-flopping his personality, Mitt Romney appeared with his wife on CBS on Tuesday with This Morning host Charlie Rose in the hope of convincing others that he’s not boring and wooden. Unfortunately, Romney can’t do this on his own so his wife stepped in to assure Americans that on the inside, Mitt is a crazy person.

“I think in politics this is what always happens, there is a narrative, you like to put someone in a box and keep them in a box,” she stated. “For me, I love the opportunity of letting people see a side of Mitt that often people mischaracterize.”

Rose asked Ann why the American people haven’t seen a more likable, emotional Mitt Romney. Ann promised that one day, we will.

“I still look at him as the boy that I met in high school when he was playing all the jokes and really just being crazy, pretty crazy. And so there’s a wild and crazy man inside of there just waiting to come out!”

Here’s the video:

So according to Ann, her husband is going to come out of his shell at some unspecified date at some undisclosed location in the future. Would this be before November or after? Mitt Romney has tried once before to convince us that he’s really a fun guy you can have a beer with, telling Diane Sawyer during an exclusive interview on ABC that he tells jokes and pulls pranks at the dinner table. That’s basically what Ann Romney just repeated. But we have yet to see Mitt Romney actually let loose and be less of a robot on stage. Instead of attempting to be more relatable, which let’s face it, has been very awkward, Mitt hopes Americans will just take his wife’s word for it that he does have a personality. His diconnect with voters has marked his political career, most notably during his run for the Senate against charismatic Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy in which Romney lost by 17 points and his Massachusetts race for Governor, which he barely won by a mere five points after pouring in a state record of $6 million into his own campaign. He lacks compassion, charisma, and humor, which are all traits that Americans find endearing. These qualities help Americans relate to the candidate on a personal level and Mitt Romney has failed to demonstrate that he is capable of any of these. That failure makes him look uncaring, and that’s a bad thing.

Ann Romney can’t say anything to change the negative view people have of her husband. Only Mitt Romney can change this, but he is ill-equipped to do so. Simply saying that Mitt is a crazy wild man doesn’t make him one. You can’t flip flop your personality. Expecting Americans to take Ann’s word for it is not enough. He has to actually demonstrate his personality to the people, which I’m sure Mitt has been doing the whole time. He’s just simply bland, boring, humorless, and stiff. You either have a charismatic and compassionate personality, or you don’t, and Mitt Romney clearly doesn’t.
