Yet, the New Hampshire GOP is using another of his “journalistic endeavors” to justify re-introducing their voter suppression bill that was vetoed by Governor John Lynch last year. Basically, O’Keefe used the names of several dead NH residents to procure ballots. No ballots were actually cast but O’Keefe is currently unable to step foot in New Hampshire because his actions were still potentially criminal in nature. How much longer will the GOP idolize an immature “prankster” like O’Keefe and how loud will their protestations of innocence be when he inevitably self destructs in a spectacular fashion?

Just as an aside, despite a five year probe into the widespread horrors of voter fraud, the Bush administration, which had every interest in finding as much fraud as possible, found about 120 cases nationwide and managed to only convict about 86 of them. No one ever talks about this. Why not? But we’re supposed to freak out over a child’s playtime video? The basic argument is that a crime could possibly be committed, therefor we must make it difficult to exercise a Constitutional right. The fact that very few cases of an actual crime being committed have been found is irrelevant. We have to guard against the possibility. BUT, as is typical for the hypocritical right, if you present them with actual widespread crime, say, in the form of gun violence, and suggest that we need to enforce the current laws and perhaps make it so that anyone that wants a gun has to have valid ID to buy one and you’ll be met with howls of protest and tyranny.

Republicans, OK with actual mass murder, violently opposed to hypothetical voter fraud.
