Most Of The Groups That Advocate Gun Rights Don’t Deserve To Own Guns

It’s no secret that for the past four years the various Right Wing conservative movements have been evolving their sentiments from the irrational to the insane. What can you expect from a group that marches onto the nation capital with loaded guns in hand (a right, ironically, that was given to them by the very president they march against.) It’s beyond a matter of opinion with these groups, who literally believe that the world is being secretly shanghaied into an islamo-socialist/fascist conspiracy and that their gun rights (and maybe their bibles) are the only things protecting them from an inevitable world takeover. You all know the thumbnail description: faux patriots emotionally regurgitating xenophobic conspiracies preached to them by their phony ideologue prophets, falsely led to believe that their views resemble that of our nation’s forefathers. They proudly wave banners reading “armed and dangerous,” something that the American public should learn they mean quite literally.

It’s sad that it doesn’t come as a surprise to hear of Christopher Hecker’s arrest this week in Waynesboro, Virginia. Hecker, a Tea Party Member, was arrested by secret service after emailing several media outlets with a promise to kill Obama from a public library. He stated in his letters that Obama was, “Destroying Patriotism in the U.S.A,” and went on to say that his frustration would eventually cause him to take lives, and that he planned on bombing the White House. At his trial he made a plea of no confidence and asked to be executed immediately, but was rightly ordered to receive a psychological evaluation.
Although this comes as a shock to major news outlets, I find it hard to believe that this sort of sentiment is at all novel for a neo-con like Hecker. In his letter, Hecker made mention of Ted Nugent’s recent not-so-subtle promise of a suicide mission against Obama if he were re-elected, stating that Nugent, “is right.” Nugent made those comments in April, specifically stating that he would end up “in jail or dead” if Obama were re-elected, and consequently came under scrutiny of the secret service himself. None of this should come as a shock to the American voter. In 2010, when health-care reform was passed, Democrat lawmakers received consistent death threats from tea party members. On several occasions, tea party members hurled bricks through the windows of Democratic congressional offices. The message is clear: these autocratic political cults, born out of conspiracy and devoid of logic are not here to participate in politics with civility and restraint. They will literally take up arms against anyone who opposes their delusions and in the coming years we will see a crescendo of violent acts and threats of violence toward anyone who does not subscribe to their insanity. Eventually, there will be blood.

I was raised around guns and guns is trhe way my father makes a living. In my opinion is that everyone should have to take a gun safety course before they can owne a gun. There are way to many people out there that owne guns that dont know a damn thing about them and that is one reason there are so many gun related accidents anymore.
My father grew up hunting on Chesapeake Bay. He taught me shooting and gun safety before I was 9, then he died. I did some hunting as a teen in Fla. (turkeys with.22′s–try it), but none since.
Why? I lived in NYC, and guns took out three of the heroes of my youth. I have nothing against guns, or gun ownership, when it is responsible.
But guns are like penises, responsible people have them, but only fools and nuts wave them around or shoot them off in public.
