Democrats Introduce Bill That Protects Pregnant Women In The Workplace, Will Republicans Oppose It?

It seems that the only thing Republicans care about when it comes to women is that they carry their pregnancies to term. But how will Republicans react to the Protect Pregnant Workers Fairness Act?

Democrats are once again putting Republicans on the spot by introducing the bill, which protects pregnant women at work from discrimination that could put mother and child at risk.

Introduced by Democratic House Representatives ?Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Susan Davis (D-CA), Jackie Speier (D-CA), Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), and George Miller (D-CA), the bill would prevent women from ????”being denied simple adjustments – permission to use a stool while working a cash register or to carry a bottle of water to stay hydrated or temporary reassignment to lighter duty tasks – that would keep them working and supporting their families while maintaining healthy pregnancies.”

The bill also prevents pregnant women from being forced out of their jobs.

So the bill should be something that Republicans would surely support, right? Surely they would want to protect fetuses by protecting pregnant mothers who work. This bill is a brilliant piece of legislation being brought by Democrats. It’s a major piece of legislation that forces Republicans to choose between their war against women and their supposed family values. This legislation should be unanimously passed by both the House and the Senate. Any Republican who opposes it is a fool and must truly have a hatred for the fairer sex.

Just this year alone, Republicans have passed over 90 bills that restrict abortion. They have viciously attacked contraception access and women’s health services, and they’ve even begun chipping away at Equal Pay laws. Republicans also have strongly opposed the Violence Against Women Act that helps protect women from domestic violence. Clearly, Republicans have an ongoing war against women, but will that war include allowing employers to endanger women who are, as Republicans say, carrying ‘life’ inside their wombs?
