Standard Right Wing Propaganda: Real Marriage

This is an ongoing series highlighting the hypocrisy and dishonesty of right wing propaganda.

Elizabeth Warren may or may not be part Cherokee. We may never know. She’s stated that she only knows of her possible heritage through family lore and had no reason to question it. Every record of her employment and education clearly indicate she never claimed minority status even when it could have benefited her. Yet, the smear campaign against her claims she benefited from affirmative action, that most evil of all programs to the privileged white members of the conservative movement. A level playing field and equal opportunity is the last thing they want so it’s obvious why AA is deeply offensive to them.

As an upstanding, hard working and intelligent woman with no skeletons of note in her closet, the right is desperately trying to manufacture a scandal any way possible as Warren runs to unseat Wall Street’s favorite Senator, Scott Brown.

So maybe she is 1/32 Cherokee, maybe she isn’t. Just for clarification, the current Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation (the top spot) is Bill John Baker. Chief Baker is 1/32 Cherokee. How this makes a mockery of Native American history is unclear.

On the other hand, making a mockery of the right wing’s ignorance of the history, significance and purpose of “real” marriage is MUCH easier.

The Bible allows for multiple wives:

a. Lamech had two wives – Genesis 4:19.

b. Esau had three wives – Genesis 26:34 & 28:9.

c. Jacob had four wives – Genesis 29:28 & 30:4-9.

d. Gideon had many wives – Judges 8:30.

e. Abijah had 14 wives – II Chronicles 13:21.

The Bible calls for a woman to marry her rapist:

a. Deuteronomy 22:28-29

The Bible also explicitly endorses slavery and eating shrimp or working on Sunday is punishable by death so redefining what is found within its pages is nothing unusual in the slightest. Further, marriage for love is a recent contrivance of Western civilization. Prior to this and in many countries in the East, arranged marriages were, and are still, the norm.

The fact that conservatives are so woefully ignorant of both history and the Bible they claim to derive their morality from (HAH! “Conservative morality!” That’s a good one!) strongly suggests that they are less interested in protecting the “sanctity” of marriage and more in depriving others of the same rights. Even here, the “Steak Rule” applies:

A conservative cannot enjoy their steak unless they know that someone, somewhere, can’t have a steak of their own.

This is the only context in which the conservative cry of “gay marriage will ruin the institution of marriage!” makes any sense at all. How pathetic.

They said it right on the poster. “Allowing people to redefine marriage to mean whatever they want…” As ALWAYS, doing something sociopathic and blaming it somebody else.

The ONLY difference between the Factual version and the Fox-ual version is the definition of the phrase – ‘between two PEOPLE’… as opposed to the Teavangelical definition, ‘between a man and a woman’ (which IS discriminatory and exclusionist.)

But Fox Family Valued ‘Christians’ don’t consider gays as people any more than they consider the Biblical Jesus who said “Love thy neighbor” as the same creature they pray to, Republican Jesus(TM). Their Jesus(TM) hates fags and commies and intellekshools and brown, black people, red and yellow people. and jews (Republican Jesus was NEVER a Jew, you know…) and taxes and science and women and especially OBAMA! Thus the discrepancy.

(Glakin, I love the Mencken quote.)

An important minor error in this piece: the Bible does not call for punishment for those who work on Sunday, but on Saturday. The biblical Shabbat (the Hebrew word of which “Sabbath” is the English translation) is always Saturday: the change to Sunday was a later marketing ploy to make the holiday, and therefore conversion, more palatable to sun-centered pagan converts such as Mithraists, and also to distinguish the new Christian cult from the Judaic.

According to White Bear, a White Mountain Apache, and scholar, (And Vietnam vet) “Anyone who can trace their ancestry 7 generations in one place are native to that place” So if you have 7 generations here, even if pure Irish, for example, you are a Native American. To be part of the ethnic indigenous people, you have to be Indian. That is NOT the same thing. Also per White Bear, Columbus declared the locals he found in the Caribbean, “In Deo” or “With God” The natives of the East Indies, India, at the time were called “Hindi” so calling them Indians was not an attempt to make it seem like his voyage to the East Indies had succeeded.

Love this: “A conservative cannot enjoy their steak unless they know that someone, somewhere, can’t have a steak of their own.”

Thought you might want to add this.

“Puritanism – the haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy.”—-HL Mencken
