There is a really exciting shocker developing in the Wisconsin recall elections to be held on Tuesday. Apart from deciding Scott Walker’s fate, it is also the recall election of four other Wisconsin State republican senators. Right now there is an even number of state senators on both sides of the aisle. The numbers became even when one of the recalled senators resigned.
Senators Van Wanggaard (R-Racine) of the 21st district, faces former Democratic state Senator John Lehman.
Terry Moulton (R-Chippewa Falls) of the 23rd district, faces Democrat Kristen Dexter.
Pam Galloway (R-Wausau) of the 29th district has resigned and her seat would be fought between Republican state Rep. Jerry Petrowski against Democratic state Rep. Donna Seidel.
Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) of the 13th district, faces Democrat Lori Compas, who organized the recall effort, then decided to run herself in this heavily republican district.
There is also a race for the Lieutenant Governor’s seat, Republican incumbent Rebecca Kleefisch faces Madison firefighter Mahlon Mitchell.
The important thing to remember in this senate election is that if the Dems win just one seat, that will give them a majority in the state senate, it will no doubt also have a telling impact on the Presidential elections in November. Right now the Dems have nothing to lose but much to gain even with one seat alone being won.
