Can’t Fool All Of The People: Most Americans Still Blame Economy On Bush

A Gallup Poll released today shows that most American still blame George W. Bush, more than President Obama, for the poor economy. This is good news for Obama; while Republicans have relentlessly attempted to shift the blame onto the president, people still remember it was their party in office when the economy faltered. More of their own voters (who are willing to blame Obama for everything from the cinder-blocks cracking underneath the truck in the front yard, to rain spoiling a golf outing), of course assign a great deal/moderate amount of blame on the president at 83%, but almost half of Republicans polled give the same amount of Blame to Bush.

90% of Democrats place the blame on W., with 19% giving Obama a great deal or moderate amount of blame. But it’s those coveted independent voters who indicate they mostly blame the economy on the Bush Administration. Those are the voters who will probably decide the outcome of the election in November.
