Bryan Fischer Says Same-Sex Adoption Amounts To Sexual Abuse Of Children (VIDEO)

Some people just can’t stop spewing hate on the airwaves and Bryan Fischer is one of them. The lead anti-gay spokesman for hate group American Family Association is obsessed with the LGBT community and has constantly attacked homosexuals on his radio program in vicious ways. One of those ways is by using studies debunked by the American Psychological Association http://www.apa.org/news/press/response/gay-parents.aspx to push his anti-gay agenda.

According to these poorly conducted studies, children with same-sex parents are more likely to be abused and not be successful members of society. And this is what inspired Fischer’s anti-gay rant on his radio program on Wednesday.

First, Fischer claimed that same-sex parents are as fit for parenting as heterosexual couples.

“There is a myth that homosexual couples can be just a good of parents to children as heterosexual couples, as married moms and dads. Absolutely, flatly, totally, completely not true. Same sex parenting is bad for kids period.”

Then Fischer continued the despicable attack by claiming that children who are adopted by same-sex parents are being sexually abused, and claimed that evolution proves that humans aren’t supposed to be homosexuals.

“The bottom line, ladies and gentlemen, to put kids into this environment, it’s a form of sexual abuse all its own. To adopt kids into a same sex environment is a form of child abuse. The sex that’s involved in homosexual behavior, it’s unnatural, it’s immoral and it is unhealthy. We know that it puts the human body to uses for which it was not designed. Whether you believe in evolution or you believe in creation, we can all say, look, the human body was not designed to be used that way. It just wasn’t. In fact, I would suggest to you that people who believe in evolution ought to be more opposed to the normalization of homosexuality than evangelicals. Because evolution is supposed to be all about propagation of the species.”

Fischer’s rant, of course, is disgusting and very wrong. For instance, not only are the studies he cites debunked, his assertion that evolution isn’t compatible with homosexuality is a myth. As it turns out, homosexuality has a place in evolutionary theory and is beneficial. A 2008 article http://www.newscientist.com/mobile/article/dn13674-evolution-myths-natural-selection-cannot-explain-homosexuality.html in NewScientist explains that,

“Homosexual behaviour has been observed in hundreds of species, from bison to penguins. It is still not clear to what extent homosexuality in humans or other animals is genetic (rather than, say, due to hormonal extremes during embryonic development), but there are many mechanisms that could explain why gene variants linked to homosexuality are maintained in a population.”

According to the article, which cites multiple studies, it’s possible that “homosexuality boosts individuals’ reproductive success,” and another study suggests that “gene variants that cause homosexual behaviour might have other, beneficial effects such as boosting fertility in women.”

In other words, the notion that evolution contradicts homosexuality is false.

But even if it did, it doesn’t justify banning same-sex couples from adopting children who are in need of a loving and stable home. Whether by choice or by nature, same-sex couples have chosen to be together and when a committed same-sex couple wants to give children a home to call their own, we have no right to deny this based on a debunked study. In fact, we have no right to deny it based on any study. If a study suggested that children are likely to be severely beaten by heterosexual couples, Bryan Fischer would be saying that the government has no right to take children away from heterosexual couples based on a mere study. In other words, he’d be a hypocrite. There are many children in this country who would be overjoyed to be adopted, regardless of the sexuality of the adoptive parents. But religious bigots like Bryan Fischer don’t really care about the children or the fact that same-sex parents are just as good at parenting as straight couple. He only cares about spreading hatred and fear. And that’s another reason why evolution is compatible with homosexuality; as we humans evolve, we become better members of the human race because we grow to understand and love others better, unlike people such as Fischer, who continue to fall backwards down the evolutionary line. Eventually, natural selection will make him and others like him, obsolete.
