A French Brothel in 1940

A recent poll from Public Policy Polling found that 66% of Nevada’s Republicans supported brothels while only 20% of those same Republicans believed in equality in marriage rights. This marks insight into the underlying logic of the Republican party. By prostitution being a business transaction, it is a lucrative enterprise; a pro-business Republican “Job Creator” at work as it were.

Reading more into the polls, it is clear that this whole equal marriage rights debate, no matter how much it is claimed to be otherwise, is about nothing other than power; the power to control someone else’s rights and to deny them. In such a mindset, prostitution is good, because it is also the power to control someone else, in this case by using money to gain sexual favors.

In the end, both positions demonstrate that this is not about religious freedom at all, but is only a naked grab to oppress another.
