Michigan is slowly but surely becoming the Kansas of the Great Lakes. Talking about Vaginas is a big no-no and you’ll be tossed into time-out if your lady parts come up on the house floor. Of course not your actual lady parts as they are currently getting bombed in the Republican war on women.
After Lisa Brown was banned from the house floor last week for audacious uttering “vagina”, the very phrase that Schmidt and his republican buddies appear to be very keen on legislating, Rep. Wayne Schmidt (R) went on the radio to clear up the real truth behind Brown’s dismissal. Schmidt essentially compared the two Democratic female legislators to bratty broads from Oxygen’s Bad Girl’s Club when he said that they needed a “time out for misbehaving.”
“You know, as I said to someone up north here, it’s like giving the kid a time out for a day. Hey, time out, you went a comment too far, you spoke your piece, said Schmidt . ” Adding, “we’re gonna let these other people have their dissenting comments, and then we’ll get back to business. But unfortunately, business has become a sideshow.” (Think Progress)
Business has indeed become a sideshow. Or let’s just say that “politics as usual” has become a sideshow, but it’s the Republicans that are selling all the tickets to that sideshow. One must wonder if Schmidt is going to heed his own advice and suggest that the same “time-out” should have been giving to Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC), the Congressional Republican who famously shouted “You Lie” at the president during one of his presidential speeches in 2009.
