Zimmerman’s Post-Murder Interview Goes Public

Audio tapes of the exchange between the Sanford Police and George Zimmerman from the night of February 26th have been made public and – surprise! – he’s a lying sack of shit.  Here are the major points (from an article on CNN):

 —–

Zimmerman told police that the struggle began when Martin “jumped out from the bushes” and punched him in the face, knocking him down.

“I started screaming for help. I couldn’t see. I couldn’t breathe,” he said.

“He grabbed my head and started hitting it into the sidewalk,” he said. “When he started doing that, I slid into the grass to try to get out from under him. … I’m still yelling for help.”

Martin, he said, put his hand over Zimmerman’s mouth and nose and told him, “You’re going to die tonight.”

“When I slid, my jacket and my shirt came up. … I felt his hand go down my side, and I thought he was going for my firearm, so I grabbed it immediately, and as he banged my head again, I just pulled out my firearm and shot him.”

When he did, he said, Martin, who had been on top of him, fell away and said, “All right. You got it. You got it.” In another interview, he noted Martin might have said, “You got me.”

Zimmerman said in the audio interviews that he was driving to the grocery store that evening when he saw Martin walking in his neighborhood. He said he pulled over and called a police nonemergency number “to report a suspicious person.”

A few other things to take away from the article:

1.) Zimmerman says that he wasn’t sure what street he was on when asked by the dispatcher.  He said Martin was circling his vehicle when he got out of his car to checkThis directly goes against what his supporters have been saying – that Trayvon pulled him out of the car.

2.) When going back to his car, Zimmerman claims that Martin jumped out of the bushes and asked, “What the fuck’s your problem?” Zimmerman said that he didn’t have one, to which Martin supposedly replied, “Now you have a problem,” before attacking him.

3.) Zimmerman claims that he screamed for help 50 or so times but audio analysts have proven that the voice in the background of the 911 calls could not have belonged to him.

4.) Homicide investigator Chris Serino told Zimmerman that his wounds were inconsistent with the beating he supposedly received.  He also called Martin’s nonexistent record into attention, as well as the possessions found on his body: a can of ice tea, skittles, and forty dollars.   Serino also informed Zimmerman of an anonymous phone call that told a very different story – that Zimmerman tried to detain Martin.

5.) Serino also expresses his doubts that the head of the neighborhood watch and a resident of three years could not tell which street he was on.  To this, Zimmerman destroys his own credibility by stating that, “I have a bad memory anyway.”

This is all horseshit, plain and simple.  Zimmerman’s story makes Martin seem like a conniving thug when in reality he was a fine young man.  Remember all of those badass pictures that Conservatives dug up on the internet of Trayvon?  Those weren’t him.  It was just a sad attempt to reinforce their own narrative.

Another thing: the phone call Martin had with his girlfriend right before the shooting spits in the face of Zimmerman’s story.  Martin never ambushed Zimmerman, nor did he “circle his vehicle.” He was just trying to get home, and was worried about who was following him (like any other person).

What pisses me off the most about this is that Zimmerman gets to speak for Martin.  Who knows what Martin actually said to him?  There is no way to prove that Zimmerman is telling the truth, and yet his story only reinforces the narrative of those defending him.

He is a liar with a self-admitted “bad memory.”

And we all know that he’ll be brought to justice.

What do you think about Zimmerman’s story?  Sound off in the comments below.

I think he is lying. it sounds so different from what was said right after this happened. I remember hearing the call with the girlfriend. And some confusion as to who was yelling or screaming. If they have proved it wan’t, could NOT have been his voice, then seems like he is digging his own hole to fall into.
Silly Zimmerman, if he had just minded his own business, he would be having some brews at home and Martin would be out playing basketball or something.
I feel bad for him, I bet he wished more than anything he had just gone home that night.
I don’t feel that sorry though since he can put words in Trayvon’s mouth. And a bigger man would just fess up.
