I have a personal mantra “If the truth does not serve my agenda, then my agenda is flawed.” It’s not really all that deep or complex but I take it to heart when it comes to politics. The more someone lies, the more obvious it is that their entire worldview is broken and worse, they know it. Why bother to lie about Obama’s accomplishments if he really is the worst president ever? It doesn’t make any sense unless your job is to spread propaganda regardless of what the truth is.
Enter Fox & Friends, the gossipy talk show with two doofs and a woman smarter than both of her co-hosts that has to pretend to be dumb because all good conservatives know women aren’t as smart as men. Recently, President Obama has been touting his success at resuscitating part of the United States’ manufacturing sector. In a July 5th speech, Obama correctly claimed credit for a growth in that sector we have not enjoyed in over a decade. But Fox & Friends was on the job of exposing that dastardly liar! According F&F, we lost almost 600,000 manufacturing jobs since Obama took office!
That lying bastard! How dare he claim success in the face of such overwhelming failure?! But wait! What is this?
Oh! I see! The losses were all at the very beginning of the Obama administration before he had passed any legislation to do any good! And look! That’s at the end of fifteen years of losses culminating in a incredible loss of jobs due to the Great Bush Recession! So, really, Obama didn’t have anything to do with those 600k lost jobs and, in fact, reversed the trend.
But wouldn’t that mean that Fox & Friends lied by omission? Well of course it does, that’s their job just like it’s our job here at Addcitinginfo and other news outlets interested in the truth, to report the facts. Especially when those facts are twisted or abbreviated by other organizations that are, shall we say, less than “fair and balanced.”
