NAACP Audience Boos Mitt Romney For Promising To Repeal Obamacare, Claims It Kills Jobs (VIDEO)

Mitt Romney spoke to the NAACP conference on Wednesday in an attempt to convince African-American voters to vote Republican in November. Unfortunately for Romney, the majority of African-Americans support President Obama.

After Mitt ‘The Flipper’ declared his intention to cut any and every program he deems “non-essential,” which in Romney-speak means every program that helps the middle class and the poor, Romney yet again promised to repeal the Affordable Care Act. The NAACP audience wasn’t thrilled by Romney’s plan to kill President Obama’s signature achievement and roundly booed Mitt for 15 seconds. Mitt forced a smile and then claimed that Obamacare kills jobs.

ROMNEY: “I’m going to eliminate every non-essential, expensive program I can find, that includes Obamacare, and I’m going to work to reform and save…”

ROMNEY: “You know, there was a survey of the Chamber of Commerce — they carried out a survey of their members, about 1,500 surveyed, and uh, they asked them what effect Obamacare would have on their plans, and three-quarters of them said it made them less likely to hire people. So I say, again, that if our priority is jobs, and that’s my priority, that’s something I’d change and replace.”

Here’s the video:

The Chamber of Commerce isn’t exactly an independent organization. It has long been considered a conservative institution that supports mainly Republicans. It’s also does not represent the voice of small businesses. Of the 125 members who sit on the Chamber’s board, Main Street is not nearly represented as much as Wall Street. Only two local Chambers have seats and only a few small businesses. The rest of the board is made up of huge corporations. In fact, many local Chambers and small businesses have distanced themselves  from the US Chamber because of its political views. The US Chamber may claim to represent three million businesses across the country, but that’s misleading.

According to YES Magazine,

“The Chamber arrives at this 3-million figure by counting all of the businesses that are members of state and local chambers. These local groups, however, are independent organizations. Many pay a few hundreds dollars a year to affiliate with the U. S. Chamber in order to take advantage of discounts and other programs. But they have no say over the national group’s political activities, its lobbying or endorsements—and many, we are now learning, in fact disagree with its views.”

The fact is, the US Chamber and Mitt Romney represent corporate interests. They have zero interest in the small business community, which is where the majority of jobs are created. According to Romney, businesses supposedly don’t support Obamacare because it will cause them to not hire workers. But that’s not true. The majority of small businesses actually support the new health care law. A new study recently revealed that over 50% of small businesses support the Affordable Care Act and that percentage rises for individual provisions in the bill. Only one-third of small businesses oppose the law.

Contrary to what the US Chamber and Mitt Romney claim, Obamacare actually benefits small businesses because of various exemptions and tax credits that will save small businesses money in the long run, especially after the law is fully implemented in 2014. Such money could be used to pay higher wages or expanding which means hiring more people. And that’s a great thing for the American economy, but it’s a bad thing if you are Mitt Romney or a conservative corporation supporting organization like the US Chamber that opposes President Obama no matter what.

Mitt Romney’s obsession with repealing Obamacare is strengthening the perception that he is a hypocrite. Keep in mind that Obamacare is modeled directly on Romneycare, the health care law Mitt Romney instituted in Massachusetts as Governor. When Romney claims that Obamacare kills jobs, he’s actually making himself look bad. Mitt is basically saying that as Governor, he willingly killed jobs in Massachusetts by passing his health care law, even though that isn’t the case at all. That’s what makes Romney a blazing hypocrite. For the first time in American history, nearly every American will have health insurance coverage. That’s every man, woman, and child, whether you are poor or rich, no matter if you have a pre-existing condition or not. You are covered. It lowers health care costs and will ultimately save businesses money so they can create more jobs. We get better health care and a stronger economy. Mitt Romney opposes this, and that’s why he was booed and that’s why he should lose his bid for the Presidency.
