Pat Robertson Calls Muslim Girlfriend Heathen And Tells Christian Caller to ‘Walk Away’

Pat Robertson, host of CBN’s 700 Club and political activist, has taken his fanatical religious doctrine to a new low. On today’s broadcast, a caller who wrote in to ask for Christian advice was delivered a harsh blow by this self-proclaimed man of God who told him his girlfriend is a heathen and that he should leave her.

A viewer named Brad wrote in online to the Christian Network and explained that his girlfriend of 3 years who he is planning to marry is Muslim, and that she has been open to his faith, but people were telling him to leave her. Brad also said that he considers leaving her after 3 years wouldn’t be Christ-like and he asked Mr. Robertson what he thought.

The judgmental evangelist told Brad that it was Christ-like to leave her because the Old Testament forbids being unequally yoked and to intermarry with “Heathens”.

See video below:

This advice is not only mean-spirited and harsh but based on a false premise. The definition of a Heathen is:

1. Offensive

a. One who adheres to the religion of a people or nation that does not acknowledge the God of Judaism, Christianity, or Islam.

b. Such persons considered as a group; the unconverted.

2. Heathen An adherent of a Neopagan religion that seeks to revive the religious beliefs and practices of the ancient Germanic peoples.

3. Informal

a. One who is regarded as irreligious, uncivilized, or unenlightened.

b. Such persons considered as a group.

Robertson has appointed himself a higher authority than the dictionary, which excludes Islam from the offensive label of Heathen. Does that mean that he considers those of the Jewish faith heathens as well? Are the only enlightened people Christian in his mind? This is ignorant arrogance, but of course not a new discourse from the fanatical Christian Right these days.

For those who might wonder if Robertson is referring to a biblical definition of Heathen in preference to a secular one, let’s see how it is defined in the King James Version (KJV) of the bible:

HE’ATHEN, n. Gr. from heath, that is, one who lives in the country or woods, as pagan from pagus, a village.

1. A pagan; a Gentile; one who worships idols, or is unacquainted with the true God. In the Scriptures, the word seems to comprehend all nations except the Jews or Israelites, as they were all strangers to the true religion, and all addicted to idolatry. The word may now be applied perhaps to all nations, except to Christians and Mohammedans (Non-Christian Religions / Islam).

Mr. Robertson appears to prefer his own biased definition heathen; one that allows him to brand a religion that he has stated time and again is not a religion at all, but a political system bent on world domination that should be treated like Communism.

What is obvious is that Pat Robertson believes in World domination by Christians and only Christians. Mr. Robertson believes he has the unique privilege of knowing God’s will and that God speaks to him directly. He does not even understand that Allah, the God of Islam, is the same God of the Christian religion. Strange that God never told him about that. Robertson obviously feels he is the only authority on the subject of Christianity and Islam. He also stated, “He’s not gentle Jesus, meek and mild. He really isn’t.” No, YOUR Jesus isn’t anything like the Biblical Jesus at all, is he Mr. Robertson?

Robertson’s cohost Terry Meeuwsen, while agreeing with Robertson said:

“It’s funny how we twist and turn what God’s word has to say to make it right for what we want.”

Yes it is Terry, since the twisting is being done by today’s fanatical Christian Conservatives and their Christian leaders, like your boss.
