The above image is the counter of a Chick-Fil-A restaurant. It speaks of a “voluntary recall” of promotional toys the company was offering as part of their kid’s meals. The web page for Chick-Fil-A Kids has a headline bearing the slogan, “Kids Meals-Good Nutrition, Good Values.” A noble sentiment, but alas, not actual corporate policy.
You see, last week the Jim Henson Company informed Chick-Fil-A they would no longer be partnering with them on promotions such as this, due to the proudly homophobic stance the company and their CEO, Dan Cathy, have embraced. Cathy has donated money to anti-gay organizations and candidates in the past, cites his love of ‘biblical values’. Today, although “there have not been any cases in which a child has actually been injured,” they’ve undertaken the recall for “safety” reasons.
I suppose Dan Cathy must be embracing Old Testament values, such as an “eye for an eye.” The New Testament is just this ‘Jesus’ person talking nonsense about, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” or, “Turn the other cheek.”
Obviously, Jesus didn’t have a business to run.
