In response to the shooting deaths in Colorado, the noted musician and actor Ice-T, in an interview on BBC Channel 4, said that people are quick to blame lax gun control laws whenever such an event happens, but that it is not always the case, as explained eloquently here:
Limbaugh then decided on taking a small clip of this interview and using it on his show. In doing so, he demonstrated a failure to understand who Ice-T is, and then insulted Ice-T directly, calling him nothing but a character. You can hear him here:
By lifting the piece out of context, Limbaugh then used it to further his goals. This did not ride well with Ice-T, who saw through the false platitudes given by the radio host. He had this to say in response:
Limbaugh had assumptions about how intelligent Ice-T is, and in-turn made himself look like the ass he is. The noted US Army Veteran then gave links demonstrating Limbaugh’s racist history and told his rather large fan base that any Limbaugh and O’Reilly fans could stop following him.
Ice-T is an intelligent, rational person who could express his personal belief and viewpoints eloquently. He has moved the gun debate dialog along without demeaning those who disagree with his position. Limbaugh by contrast continues to pander to his audience.
