A young African-American man in Jonesboro, AR died of a gunshot wound to the head while handcuffed in the back of a patrol car.
Chavis Carter was arrested for alleged drug possession and for missing a court date on previous drug charges.
Sergeant Lyle Waterworth of the Jonesboro police department, stated that Carter was “handcuffed, double locked and searched” for weapons. Still, the officer claims, Carter managed to shoot himself in the head after a “thump” was heard from the back of the squad car.
Carter’s mother, Teresa, isn’t buying the story. First, she claimed that her son was searched twice. She said that he was left-handed, but was shot in the right temple. She also said that he had called his girlfriend after he got pulled over and told her he’d call her from jail. She believes her son was killed.
The incident is under investigation. The officer is on leave.

Uuummm……the only problem is the cops not finding the Saturday night special stuffed in suspects crotch. Does anyone know how easy it is to get handcuffs from behind your back to the front?! Slender people can do it at will….Cops are only guilty for not actually feeling around Carter’s junk. I challenge every assuming soul on here to google videos et al on how easy it is to get cuffs from back to front. If your belief that ALL cops are bad?….no one can shake a belief except the beholder of that belief. Carter knew he was going back to prison, but cops did not know Carter was willing to kill himself before going back to prison. I also want to know what Carter’s criminal history was. Everyone on here is not using logic. Who is watching the watchers?? Starts at the top…Eric Holder…..and that gentleman is the truly the face of intergrity as well as his ilk…….
I hope she get on top of things simply because that officer killed her son in cold blood. Its sad that someone you’re suppose to trust your life with would blow your brains out without it bothering them at all. People treat animals better than a humans.Futhermore why would he kill his self instead of killing the officer his lil minor chargers wasn’t enough to end his life over. *RED FLAG* Well we all know why this child was killed therefore i would lay my baby to rest and call a lawyer this shit need to stop because whites you’ll never live in this world with only whites therefore its time for yall to learn to live with other race
