I don’t know much about Bob Beckel other than he’s the token liberal on Fox’s idea of a comedy show, The Five. I do know that he is significantly older than his much more attractive co-hosts (a concidence, I’m sure) and usually puts up only light resistance. This is the idea, of course. Fox has a history of pairing ineffectual liberals with spin masters to make conservative talking points appear dominant (See Hannity and Colmes). The Five currently includes Dana Perino, George W. Bush’s former press secretary. You want someone used to lying through her teeth? Dana can tell you she’s a man without batting an eyelash and make it sound like she means it.

But every now and then, the token liberal just can’t take the amount of bull puckey flying around the Fox studios and has an on-air meltdown:

The sincerity is just dripping off of Perino who will stick to that talking point come hell or high water no matter how blatantly untrue it is. After all, she’s not paid to present a critical opinion, she’s paid to shill for the right. It would have been more impressive if Beckel didn’t fold like cheap suit a few seconds later but it was nice while it lasted…

Correction: The author got the name “Bruce” stuck in his stupid head instead of “Bob” and despite fixing this in the body of the article before posting STILL got it wrong in the title. It has been fixed and the author will now smack his head with a bruce brick.
