BREAKING – Fire Breaks Out In Richmond Refinery

Just in, the Chevron refinery in Richmond, California, near to San Francisco, has had a fire break out at roughly 6:40 pm PST. The refinery, which has been shut down due to issues with the gas flaring system, has been in trouble before after suffering major explosions back in 1999 and 2007.


All citizens of Richmond, North Richmond and San Pablo are advised to go inside, close and seal their windows. A level 3 shelter is being set up right now. Live news on the event can be found from ABC here

UPDATE: The zone for people to stay indoors and seal their windows has been expanded and now includes the cities of Berkeley and El Cerrito. This is a serious danger, heed the warnings.
