Colorado Poll Shows Growing Support For Regulated And Legalized Cannabis

The Public Policy Poll of Colorado released results yesterday indicating increased support for the legalization of the Cannabis plant. Support has grown by five points overall (47-38 from 46-42) since June, indicating an overall raising approval rating, but the more notable statistic comes from independent voters. Support among independents has risen by an incredible thirty points in the same time span, up to 58% for and 28% against versus 49%-40% in June.

These poll results were responses to being questioned about their support of Amendment 64. The measure, Amendment 64 is on the November ballot to allow voters to decide upon cannabis legalization. Interestingly, when respondents where asked whether they favored cannabis legalization or not, the results were somewhat different, as shown by the graph below, courtesy of Ecopolitical Economics:

Another graph in the same article showed, somewhat unsurprisingly, party support for the proposed bill:

If support for Amendment 64 continues to rise, it will almost certainly pass in November. Time will tell.
