Empire State Shooting Injuries Caused By Police Fire

New reports are coming in that the Empire State Shooter only shot a single person. One of the shooting victims, Robert Asika, is quoted by the Guardian that the police appeared to be “shooting randomly” into the crowd. Even more damning is an ABC report that the NYPD have reported that the shooter’s gun had jammed, meaning it was impossible for the shooter to have injured the bystanders.

The ABC report can be seen here:

It appears from the reports that the officers, despite being listed as veterans of the force, have never fired their weapons in the line of duty. In a city like New York, it is strange to think that two officers on patrol together had not had either one of them discharged a weapon in the line of duty.

Part of the gun debate in this nation has been that with an armed populace the incidents of shooting deaths would drop. However, with two fully trained officers in a situation against a man who had a jammed pistol could injure 9, it is time to put this myth to rest.
