Four years after she lit the Republican party on fire with her national debut, Sarah Palin is conspicuously missing from the GOP convention. In 2008, her star couldn’t have shone brighter, at least for a certain portion of the Republican party.
Palin, they thought, was the way to reel in disenfranchised Hillary Clinton voters, except that she didn’t. It turned out that women realized that simply having a vagina doesn’t make a woman an expert on all things womanly. Palin is folksy. She’s a ‘regular’ person if being ‘regular’ means being anti-smarts and pro-shooting stuff. Most importantly, at least to some, the ex-beauty queen in glasses is ‘hot.’
“But that’s not it,” the right protests. “It’s her ideas. She’s rogue and a mama grizzly and a hockey mom and a pit bull with lipstick” and whatever other label she cares to adhere to herself.
Four years and hundreds of embarrassing Palin moments later, Republicans show what she always was to them, the hot girlfriend whom they hope to God never opens her mouth in public. The proof? While Palin’s career is taking a nosedive, a stripper/porn cottage industry has been created from of her image. The Tampa Bay Times interviewed the most famous Palin porn look-alike, Lisa Ann, a.k.a. Serra Paylin. Unlike Sarah Palin, Serra Paylin is being welcomed in Tampa, the home of the GOP convention, with open arms.
Lisa Ann is a porn star, yes, and she does not know how she got so lucky. People everywhere know her as the woman who imitated Sarah Palin in Hustler’s Who’s Nailin’ Paylin? and its sequels, movies that arrived wrapped in brown paper on countless American doorsteps during the last election.
Playing “Serra Paylin” rocketed Lisa Ann to a new level of pop culture fame, landing her a job at the Republican National Convention in Tampa. Friday and Saturday, Lisa Ann will strip as Alaska’s most famous governor at Thee Dollhouse in Tampa.
I’m quite sure that Palin wouldn’t be a fan of Paylin and well, the feelings are no doubt mutual. Lisa Ann is pro-marriage equality and she’s actively pro-Planned Parenthood.
Does Lisa Ann agree with the premise that Palin’s fandom is largely because of her looks?
“Do you know how many guys at the airport have told me they voted for Palin because they thought she was hot? I tell them don’t vote.”
