Obama Assassination Plot Disrupted
The murder of former Army Sergeant Michael Roark and his girlfriend Tiffany York took a strange twist yesterday with the confession and guilty plea from one of the murderers.
Private Michael Burnett yesterday plead guilty to manslaughter charges, but in his confession disclosed that he and his co-conspirators, Sergeant Anthony Peden, Private Christopher Salmon and Private Isaac Aguigui were in the process of gathering material for an attempted takeover of Fort Stewart and a plot to bomb targets in Georgia as well as Washington, with the ultimate goal being the assassination of the President himself.

In order to do this, the conspirators had already gathered over $80,000 worth of firearms and bomb making materials. In explaining the killing of the Sergeant and his girlfriend, Private Burnett called him “a loose end” who had details of the plot. When the murders were first discovered last December, the motive was unclear. Now, with the revelation, a dark and twisted story comes out.
Could they have succeeded? Unlikely. However, looking back on the history of Presidential assassinations, few ever did look like they would succeed until they actually did. That this plot was undone by what appears to have been a rash decision on the part of the conspirators does display that this group likely would not have succeeded in their goal, but they shall never have that opportunity to find out.
