CNN contributor and right-wing blogger Erick Erickson had something to say about the fact that there were many women speakers at the Democratic National Convention. He chose to say it in a Tweet:
He was met with angry replies within minutes and then issued his —I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it—tweet.
Here’s what Mr. Erickson. Women in this country are pissed off. Men like you are a huge part of the reason. Your tweet displays the fear you have of women. This fear appears to be all-consuming because despite all the backlash, you guys just won’t stop. Ann Romney’s RNC speech was a thinly veiled attempt to make up for the fact that women are clearly under attack by Republicans. As Romney gave her “I love women” speech, the sea of white faces in the audience applauded her. She pretended to understand what it’s like for all women. She hasn’t a clue what the average American woman goes through, struggling to make ends meet in the economy that Republicans have perpetuated by carrying out the plan to obstruct, obstruct, obstruct. Your tweet is yet another demeaning female reference, classifying women as “vaginas.”
I proudly take on the name “Slut” and “Vagina” to show you and all the rest of your misogynistic party that your futile attempts to “keep us in our place” only fuels our fire.
As insulting as the GOP is, the more you treat women as objects and define us by our sexual regions, you dig a little more of your political grave.
