Say WHAT? Todd Akin Claims Doctors Perform Abortions On Women Who Aren’t Pregnant (VIDEO)

Representative Todd Akin (R-MO).

Representative Todd Akin (R-MO).

Holy cow, did Representative Todd Akin (R-MO) actually conjure up a nightmarish fantasy about terrorist abortion doctors in dark pestilential pits “giving abortions to women who are not actually pregnant” on the House floor? Dear gawd, I’m afraid he actually did, in a screed against stem cell research back in 2008.

Thank you for sharing, Slate Writer Amanda Marcotte. While the adage “information wants to be free” has some validity, so does the old saying, “some information should stay locked up and buried 100 miles under the ground in a locked, airtight shipping container.” I haven’t had nightmares this terrifying since Stephen Colbert conjured up visions of Representative Steven King (R-IA) and his “glassy-eyed man puppies.”

If you don’t believe Ms. Marcotte and me, you can watch for yourself on the 2008 CNN video footage from below:

Below, please find a transcript from part of Akin’s “fundamentally un-American” speech:

There’s a real shortage of abortionists. Who wants to be at the very bottom of the food chain of the medical profession? And what sort of places do these bottom-of-the-food-chain doctors work in? Places that are really a pit. You find that along with the culture of death go all kinds of other law-breaking: not following good sanitary procedure, giving abortions to women who are not actually pregnant, cheating on taxes, all these kinds of things, misuse of anesthetics so that people die or almost die. All of these things are common practice, and all of that information is available for America.

I can’t wait until “the bad dream is over.”
