Santorum Says We Should Kill And Eat Big Bird (VIDEO)

While speaking with CNN host Piers Morgan, ex-presidential candidate Rick Santorum not only agreed with Romney that Big Bird should die, but suggested that maybe we should eat him, too. Although the bizarre twist didn’t make much sense, it was good for a video clip.

Here’s the video:

“Well, as a matter of fact, I’ve voted to kill Big Bird. That doesn’t mean I don’t like Big Bird. You can kill things and still like them. I mean, maybe to eat them,” said Santorum.

“That was beautifully badly phrased,” Piers commented.

Raw Story reports on Obama’s statements regarding the impending threat (no threat, in reality) to Sesame Street:

At a campaign event in Denver on Thursday, President Barack Obama had blasted Romney for refusing to close corporate tax loopholes and ruling out raising additional revenue to balance the nation’s budget.

“And when he was asked what he would actually do to cut the deficit and reduce spending, he said he’d eliminate funding for public television,” the president explained to boos from the crowd. “That was his answer. I mean, thank goodness somebody is finally getting tough on Big Bird. It’s about time.”

“We didn’t know that Big Bird was driving the federal deficit,” Obama quipped. “Elmo too.”

You know, you’d think that the “fiscally responsible” Republican Party would cut public education funding last with regard to the very tiny bit of money (comparatively) it takes to run it. $444 million in subsidies doesn’t compare to, say, the two trillion dollars Romney wants to give to the military that they haven’t even asked for. As if we need a better defensive department. In other words, cutting PBS funding is nonsensical. It doesn’t even make sense; the only purpose it serves is to further outline the fiscal insanity that is dominating the Tea Party driven right-wing of the Republican Party.
