In a video released in late September, Republicans ask the question:

Are The Republicans Waging A War On Women?

The video is a collection of men and women of all colors letting us liberals know that we are completely off our rockers and we are being ridiculous! There’s no war on women! They have proof, too. They make faces and shake their heads. They provide all kinds of empty opinions. Here’s a sampling of the “proof” that women have nothing to worry about if misogyny takes over our government:

African-American woman: “(laughs) I think as women…I don’t think we realize how powerful we are, because we contribute a great deal to our culture, to our society, to our country…and that there’s a war on women…? (shakes her head negatively)”

Caucasian woman: “The Republican party stands behind women who want to reach their goals, reach their dreams.” She adds later: “The men in the Republican party, they respect the women, they respect us as equals. They don’t look at us and say ‘We need to give you things or we need to help you or you look like you need our assistance.’ I never run into that …”

Caucasian man: “Women play a big role in the conservative movement…uh…they are just as important as the men and — in some ways — are the backbone of the conservative movement, and to say that we do not care about women is just…is completely untrue.”

Young Caucasian woman: “I don’t really feel hated by anyone…and I’m a woman, so I don’t understand why people think we hate women.”

Mature Caucasian woman: ”What I don’t want is government telling me what to do.”

Imagine these were testimonials in a court of law. Would you be convinced?

Okay, aside from the tears streaming down my face from laughter and extreme fear that there are actually women (and men) who are so robotic, uninformed and easily manipulated, I am horrified. These ‘testimonials’ are all empty opinion. They provide NO SOLID evidence, just a bunch of Republican rhetoric and propaganda. Their argument is the equivalent of: “Go ahead, eat the entire cake. You won’t gain any weight because the cake is calorie and fat free. Trust me.” It always reminds me of a physically-abused woman who covers up her bruises and defends her abuser saying things like “He really didn’t mean it” or “I know he really does love me.”

I need to state some facts before I go brain dead.

Republican legislators have targeted women’s rights since they gained a majority in January 2011. They have successfully passed legislation in Kansas that allows pharmacists to deny a woman birth control if they think the intent is to induce an abortion. Mitt Romney is on record saying he will de-fund Planned Parenthood. Of course, he changes his position on this every few days, but it’s pretty clear Romney will not be the man to make sure women’s rights are protected. Paul Ryan co-sponsored legislation with Missouri Congressman (and now Senate candidate) Todd Akin that would narrow the legal definition of rape to “forcible rape.” Additionally — along the lines of the “Let Women Die Act” — Ryan has made clear, in vote after vote and statement after statement, that he does not support abortion in any situation, even to save the life of the pregnant woman.

Forced transvaginal probes. Fair Pay blocked by Republicans. Legitimate Rape. Slut.  The list is endless.

This video is a sad and pathetic attempt to convince any thinking American that the War On Women is a liberal distraction. I know facts mean nothing to many Teapublicans but c’mon, that’s the best you’ve got? I guess it is. Lies and manipulation seem to be the only way you know how to ‘educate.’
